Voyager One An Two,space Exploration

Gnash, what do you mean by 'be happy with our lot and stop looking for trouble'? If you mean discovering what's out there and understanding it, then no I don't agree. Ignorance is dangerous imo. If you mean actively trying to make contact with intelligent life, then yeah I kinda agree. IMO an advanced race of aliens would be bad news for Humans.

I mean trying to discover new things anywhere other than planet earth......we know the score here and know we,re ok ( well until we f**k that up anyway ).......but we dont know the score away from our own gaff whos to say what we might accidentally stumble across................totally far fetched i know but we all know where poking our nose into things we dont understand gets us.............just a thought like.

Why do you think there is no other life ... Its a very arrogant and closed view to think we are the only life form in existence and that the earth is the only inhabited planet ..........

Perspective...   http://www.ba-bamail.com//view.aspx?emailid=12288&MemberId=0&

Lol, no billions have been invested in the current mission of voyager.

Gnash, the way I see it is there is a lot of shit out there that will end the human race on Earth. There's also a lot of shit out there that kills people here and now and generally makes life difficult for us. Now we can accept that and just go quietly or we can step into the unknown, as we have done through our history, and master our environment ensuring our survival.

I very much doubt we are going to find our nemesis within the confines of our solar system, so I see no threat finding our interstellar feet within those bounds. Small steps...

I think its been proven that life cannot spontaneously start by itself,i think the experiment miller done in lab says it all.

Born will explain the miller test

That doesn't mean there isn't life on another planet ........

The main reasons for all exploration carried out on earth in the past and even now was population growth and the need for new resources, these will be the main reasons for the exploration of space in the future.

Once the commercialisation of space begins it will be unstoppable!

If there is something you know, communicate it. If there is something you don't know, search for it.

I agree with what gnash is saying especially when it comes to small organisms like virus which are the most likely life we will encounter...... But!

I do think done right the benefits outweigh the costs ie materials, minerals, population expansion etc There is a universe out there, if they built a starship enterprise tomorrow just call me captain Kirk

Stan miller tryed to create life in the lab, which failed,an he left out oxygen, one of the basic ingredients for life, cause he knew oxygen would oxidize the rest of the elements.

It was 98% poison.

I thought you would know about that born lol
