The squirrels are back. Looking forward to spending some time with them this autumn....lots of oaks on this land.

Nah but I've got someone who usually gets rabbit off me to feed their dog waiting for me to sell them a couple to see if their dogs like them, if not I will bury them

Squirrel tails make really good fox decoys.

 

I electric tie some tails to the top of some strong metel wire or stick and let them blow in the wind

Just curious, when I pickem up I think is it really worth it and if I had a hell of a lot of them maybe give it a try in a stew but I normally only get one or two if and when I go for them.

 

I was always better off chasing the buggers down with the shotgun but most of my perms now only want rifle work and they're not a concern as its rabbits and good ole Charlie who's the concern these days.

I intended to a month or two ago but once you take off the bushy tail and grey fur the long bony tail and general shape of the squirrel looks like a rat so I gave it to the terrier

Celtic, they make really good eating. Once you've eaten one you won't waste any more. Get the seasoned roast bags from the supermarket, drop squirrel in and away you go better than rabbit.

Really!...I'll eat anything to see if its good as you never know.

Known for awhile that they do serve it in specific places as well...they don't seem to serve rabbit that much these days either so I might source it out one day.

Squirrels are delicious to eat, I love 'em....take a bit of skinning though, until you get the knack of it.

Shot one with the cz on Saturday , while I was out after bunnies , he just happened to be on the ground at the wrong time .

 

Never eaten them myself , but the ferrets love them.

i had a walk round with the airgun yesterday after work and could,nt beleive the number of squirrels about, we had our annual squirrel day with the shotguns and killed plenty but all of a sudden there,s loads ! by the way i managed to bag a couple yesterday, i,ll be back, cheers plum !
