Ferretqs 1
Hi I am just looking into ferrets and was wondering what the difference is between an EU polecat and a normal Ferret? Thank you Quote Link to post
rabbit demon 302
I think the eu polecats are semi wild and are more capable of taking your finger off when they bite due to a stronger bite and broader skull. Less playfully and more prey drive too from what iv read. Never saw one though. Quote Link to post
budharley 945
Nothing there just ferrets if some that you have seen that are for sale as eu polecats or eu polecat x some one just believes they are Edited July 27, 2014 by budharley Quote Link to post
Ferretqs 1
Yes I have seen some advertised for sale as 100% European polecats. Thankyou for the replies Quote Link to post
pie-eater 377
Id just ignore all the eu crap. Im not saying no one has one but most are just dark polecat coloured ferrets. 1 Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
The difference is usually about 40 quid Never mind all this EU pish, Unless somebody proves to me they trapped a wild polecat, then they just have dark coloured ferrets, nothing more. Just a scam to charge extra money is all it is. feckin chancers. 1 Quote Link to post

And those that make claims that some foreign/hybrid ferret is the mutts nutts. Have obviously never had a good working ferret. Quote Link to post
morton 5,369
Ive owned and worked ferrets for a year or two, about 6 years ago a mucker gave me a true Poley hybrid, the thing was lightning fast,i learnt to use it in big warrens,as its speed and stamina suited the work the big spots warranted,in walls and small hods the thing killed in seconds, when it came out of a wall or warren you had to sprint to catch it up.They are out there and are a serious piece of kit,the genuine ones, alas the one i had lost its tail to an enthusiastic Beddy pup dragging a bunny out of a wall, then died a few days later.I bred some kits from it,none of them had the gills work ethic or speed. I never said there were not good working ferrets out there as there are, Im saying if you have never had an EU how can people comment. A true EU is certainly not just a dark coloured ferret. Prey drive in the true Eu is another level. 2 Quote Link to post
