Born Hunter 17,910
Walshie, they've already run into problems, they haven't the ability to carry out an operation of that scale to the same standard as the UK or US, or for that matter the Germans, French, Polish, Israelis, Ozzies, Kiwis, Canadians. The Nigerian army could probably kill all the insurgents but it's a rescue not just an extermination. It'd be just like that Russian cinema, national pride at the expense of civilian lives. If US or UK forces carried it out they could smash them that hard they'd think twice before doing it again and our reputation in the world would be partially restored for doing something good for a change.

So plenty of people capable without stretching our resources even further. It's a nice thought that this would do any good for our "reputation", but it would make no difference at all. And even if it did, who cares? I'm still for the exterminating the insurgents option.

Yes we're good but wee no f*****g super heroes I'm well aware of them Scot. Those that are publicised at least. But fact is, the best people by a significant margin to rescue those Girls are in the nations I've mentioned.

The point being we did the moral thing and not for the oil that everybody claims is the reason for any military deployments.

*The*Field*Marshall* 674
Hmmm . . To think Great Britain became the mighty nation it was (and still is in some respects) by their "involvement" in other countries . . Give and take, it they ask for our help for the lives of those girls, I say let it be. . If those girls belonged to us I'm sure we would want the help of the best forces in the world.

I don't think it would be stretching our resources, there's counter terrorism UKSFs squadrons on rotation 24/7 for deployment anywhere in the world. We have kit in Africa right now as part of training operations. It wouldn't be a year long campaign. It'd be a replay of Sierra Leone if you are looking for similarities to previous UK interventions. Yeah, there'd be a lot of exterminating LOL but with live hostages instead of dead ones.
dare 1,103
With how they live I'm not surprised alot wish to come here. Think when the gap is so big between countries they need to be a whole lot better at controlling who comes in. Our prisons are better than their home so what do they have to fear or care about when here. Even more crazy when poorer countries come here and call for us to change lol. Not heard much on it but sure it was said their goverment was aware of boko haram going to attack that school and done nothing?
