joshuacharlee 24
I was given a white Oeg cock about a week ago and he's a man fighter is there a reason why he is and can this trait be passed on to offspring?
bullx100% 681
I was told that man fighters can produce man fighters but am not 100% sure.....I'd make a small pen and keep him in there for a wile so u don't have chase him round to pick him up,,,,,,,spend some time with him let him feed out your hand....he may just not been used to people .....or he could of been mistreated .... Hatch28 243
He might not be a manfighter but just bad tempered put another bird in front of him and if he turns around to fight you instead of facing the other bird then he's a manfighter and would probably just breed more manfighters. Ukroosterman 548
Most birds are manfighters because of in proper handling and care...... And with right handling can become gentle...... There are some witch are manfighters my genetics.... And manfighters come in all breeds of fowl nor just gamefowl.... Uk
joshuacharlee 24
Thanks for the info uk, don't think he was mistreated just think it's because the person who gave him to me just used to leave him loose to run and roost where he wanted so probably just needs taming he just manages to give me a few good hits every time in try and get him to quiet him down
Chicken_man 1,651
Do as the lads say, and you will be fine. Atb :-)
burnie69 376
When you handle him try holding half a apple in one hand that's if he's a bird what wants to peck at you. Let him peck the half of apple he'll start looking for it in the end when you handle him. Its worked with a couple of nasty birds I've had. But not everyone. Also take him out away from the hen he might just be over protective over her.

Ukroosterman 548
If I can had few tips on from burnies post..... Take him and put him on tie cord.... This way can get a hold of him with any confrontation..... Walk up behind him grab the tiecord with left arm pull gentle kneel and put right hand between he's legs from behind and pick him up....... Wear some sort of fleece so when he pecks you he won't get your flesh so won't get mad with him and Ruth handle him....... Once you have him sit down with and hold for a while and talk softly to him...... Take your thumb and rube he's hear gentley...... They love this and will sit quite with there eyes closed..... Do this for a hour every day and he should tame down qwickly and as burnie stated give somethink to peck at when your done...... I could give uses a few more tips but I'm sure how appropriate they would be on here lol... Uk
