I saw 4 about 3 weeks ago .. couldnt get near enough to get any pics .. still nice to see them though .. there lovely elegant birds I always think

 

The female caught my eye first,she was real pretty,I knew I had not seen one before,but had to google what it was when I got home,lol

When I first saw the male I thought it was a crossbreed duck ,then after googling realised it was the male of the species.

No pics im afraid as I only have a Jcb phone,but walking over the ancient footbridge at bottom of Monmouth looked over wall,and behind the river bank pub was a pair of goosanders ,male was fishing,female sleeping on a mudbank.

 

I saw a golden eagle taking a fox today but I didn't have my camera either :whistling::toast::laugh:

Black and white birds are always problematic but the females are very photogenic. I followed a pair above Tarr steps last spring and they kept flushing in front from other walkers so I went inland a couple of hunderd yards and waited and they came right by. Alas only had a little camera as i was on a cross Devon walk.
