Not the best conditions, pretty windy, totally clear sky and a nearly full moon, just enough to keep me on my toes. Long story short, it was on the smallest field on the permission which is a squared off P shape. I thought I'd do this one 1st and see what the crack was. I started off walking up the long section on the left hand side, got to the top and turned right, got to the boundary and turned right again. As I got half way down, I spotted one eye in the corner of the field, bingo! I turn my lamp back off, take the safety off then realise the wind is coming from behind me, bugger! I decided to do an about turn and try and take it from the other side, so walk all the way back around the field to where I started from and continue to where the rabbit was. As I walk up to the right turn where I think it's at the end of, I really take my time scanning the ground to make sure I don't stand on any twigs etc. sure enough as I turn the corner, it's dead ahead! Lamp off, I stalk about 10 paces then get down on one knee and turn the lamp on, oh yes, it's never budged! I take my time, control my breathing and take the shot, I get that sinking feeling that I've missed (as per normal) so stand up and look through the scope, I can see it lay on its side, Get in! Cracking head shot, between the eye and the ear with the pellet coming out the eye on the other side Hopefully the 1st of many. Hopefully Big Mac and Daz have huge grins reading this, as without them I wouldn't have had the skills to stalk it, shoot it and prepare it ready for the table. 4 Quote Link to post
