Malt 379
If children want to see this kind of thing then it is only too easy, adding it to Facebook changes little imo. The point shouldn't be 'isn't FB a shit for doing this' but more 'WHY THE f**k DO WE LET THIS HAPPEN'. You can try sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming 'I don't want to see this' but why not take a moment to think 'that is really happening to real innocent people'. Sometimes you need to see something, to be shocked and disgusted to really understand what some people under some regimes are dealing with every day. It's all too easy to try and live in a bubble in your safe English county and pretend it doesn't happen, but that is utterly disrespectful to those who are suffering and is a step backwards in trying to stop it. The more people who are aware of bad things, the fewer bad things can happen because fewer good people will stand idly by, so how dare you or anyone else say it is better to ignore it, how f*****g dare you. So, having decided to have a go at people for saying it shouldn't be on there, what are you going to do to prevent it happening? It's all very well saying its there to inform, but most kids who share shit like this will do it with an attitude that says, 'watch this, it's cool' rather than an attitude that says 'look at what's happening in the world, what can we do about it..' There's a huge difference between glorifying videos like this and using them to inform. Most kids at the minimum Facebook age aren't level headed and mature enough to view this in the way you're saying it should be viewed. Your attitude is all to common these days, it seems to be old fashioned to have the view that kids should be protected from the world and themselves until they are mature enough to fully understand the images and themes they are seeing. jambay5 191
I think our kids need protection against watching stuff like this and to enjoy childhood, they will find out soon enough what the real world is like!! my kids live in a bubble and i intend to keep it that way as long as i can. Nik_B 3,791
Never let kids have a computer in their bedroom. Make sure you monitor what they're doing you can check history, log MSN messenger and if the PC isn't near you then you can also get virtual server software like VNC so you can remotely log in to the computer from another one and watch exactly what they're up to. Yes it sounds a bit over the top but once they know you can see everything they're doing they don't do anything dodgy! In the end it's a bit like the war on terror you're constantly having to keep ahead of the technology which is why I think you shouldn't buy them it in the first place. I found a kid had been sending unpleasant pics to my daughter when she was about 12 or 13 so I told her to tell him if it happened again I'd be round to have a chat to his parents...it never happened again. Well by your logic we may as well let videos and images of child pornography and abuse stay on the net, after all, no matter how abhorrent normal people find it it unfortunately still happens.. Can't censor the world eh?

Can't censor the world eh? I think the difference between those examples is that the existence of paedo's is common knowledge, but a lot of people are completely unaware of the atrocities happening every day. If no-one knew about paedo's I would have no problem people spreading videos making people aware. Syria is a great example, where thousands are tortured and murdered and the only way the world knows about a lot of it is when some poor bugger can put something on YouTube etc. My main point is that ignoring such videos doesn't make the problem go away, if parents need to keep a closer eye on who they their befriend online as a consequence then that can only be a good thing imo. There are many things people don't know about, everything about Liberia for example, agent orange, unit 731 and does anyone care more people have died in the Congo than in the world wars in the last couple of decades so they can mine minerals to make mobile phones? What is a better way to spread the word than social media?
