Need to find the right camper... Link I posted is top end of my budget as well.. Anyone have any advise for me? Needs to be big enough for me + 3dogs and I need to be able drive it as could possibly be hitting europe for a few months next year... Or even longer
the_stig 6,614
gem look into horse boxes --most are already kitted out with beds sinks showers and heating ...once the stalls are removed theres loads more space for living and dogs .. some of them I think upto a certain weight you can drive on a car licence.. a lot of people that do the antique fairs convert 31/2 ton lorries mainly ex tnt or royal mail if you start with the bare bones you can do it as you like Edited September 14, 2013 by the_stig
Carraghs Gem 1,699
Car licence is the problem, think they have changed the laws on driving horselorrys on car licence couple years back as that was my original plan
unlacedgecko 1,467
Getting a C licence for driving a Class 2 lorry will cost you about £1k. You can drive a 3.5t lorry on a car licence.

Carraghs Gem 1,699
See thats my problem rob... Want something I can live in and drive bout once a week to shops... Im not mechanically minded and that would need a bigass tow truck if shit hits the fan, im not gonna have money to fix it if it goes badly wrong either
unlacedgecko 1,467
I reckon you would be better off with a 4x4 and a caravan...that way it's modular, if one bit breaks you only have to replace that bit.
Carraghs Gem 1,699
5k is my max... Need a fixed double bed and shower/toilet... Bit of room for 2 lurchers.... The ideal van would also have a built in garage for a motorbike but I doubt an affordable one will turn up Has to be suitable for driving on b licence and have doe.... Long shot I know

Not really workable.. Cant afford tax + insurance on 4x4 and irish laws are complicated enough with where you can park a caravan... And laws on towing... Camper is what im going for

Chid 6,794
Gem can't drive anything over 3500kg gross vehicle weight and can't tow anything more than 750kg Kind of limits you to what your going to get ... Something around a twin wheeled transit size is what your going to be looking at ..
