Good day chinking with my boy. We usually go down just for a bit of sport, chinking out a few crabs and rarely taking any home, more for the fun but couldnt refuse this fella! Didnt take any photos once we got the lobster as we did a runner back with it. Got it back and had him for tea, beautiful. Exactly on the size for taking so we were happy with that.

Awesome, and a great result with the lobster! :good: My kids love searching for crabs! You ever come across any of those velvet swimming crabs? Nasty little shits they are, fair play!:thumbs:

Okay. I've got to ask ..... How does one " Chink "? What's that all about, please? Term ~ and probably practice ~ I've never come across before.

And, where the bloody hell was that lobster?! Scary to think That sort of thing might be lurking anywhere not deep in the sea! :icon_eek:

  • 2 weeks later...

We have had half size lobsters and good sized crabs when fishing up here on the north antrim coast. Just got a couple of cheap pop up traps n throw em in by rocks and harbour walls. Missed a keeper of a crab as it couldnt get in the entry, we could see it plain so water wasnt that deep. Got a couple of frames made up and just waiting to find some decent material for mesh, and hopefully get some keepers.

Catch lots of rockling in them too, and see a good bit on making prawn traps from plastic bottles.
