What Shotgun To Get On Budget?

Recommended Posts

You don't state what you are going to use it for but I would opt for the o/u while it is your first gun. They are easier to deem safe but more to the point it is easier for other people to see it is safe.

If you are going to use it at a clay shoot, they can be frowned upon by some clubs for this reason.

For the first gun probably you should go and buy one what fits you good, stays in your money and you like it. Here in Hungary a lot of hunters have a Baikal because it is a cheap and very durable gun. You won't care with a Baikal in the rain, hard bush or reed, they don't get rusty easily.

... Here we have no Lanber so I can't say anything about it!!

All good advice mate, nothing wrong with a Russian purdey (Baikal) though they are a little agricultural compared to the Spanish o/u whatever you buy make sure it fits you as you will never be happy with a gun that does not, even if you spent £100,000 on a Purdy,Lanber, Laurona, Lincoln, all good serviceable guns, if you go for a s/s try and find one with a flat rather than concave rib they are easier to shoot, and finally whatever you do DO NOT get talked into one of those fu--ing aweful Hatstand escort semi autos, it will put you off from the start, they are garbage
