STRANGER 948
Many Communist groups believe that MP's should only be paid the national average working wage(curently around £27,000), which would help ensure that the pocket-liners were deterred from entering politics. It would certainly attract a different calibre of candidate ! "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies" (Marx - not Karl, Groucho!) Think that's a great idea. If people pulling the strings felt the repercussions of their actions maybe they would be more inclined to do better for the working man and better for the country. After that expenses scandal, anyone fiddling should have been sacked on the spot.
