And a roof would stop the rabbits bungee jumping activities

rabbit punch bag? ...

Chip a section of the block work out so you can hose it down only needs to be an inch or so high and a few inches long,,, it means you can disinfect and scrub with a yard brush,,, then hose it out the

how do you just use the perspex instead of the block and you will no need a roof on it just a thought

The Perspex is only thin. Wouldn't be very

Sturdy. Why does it need a roof?

Not a roof as such...just something to put over the top as ferrets are masters at escaping...better than harry houdini

It's a nice idea to have wipe-clean perspex sheeting, but the tiny gaps, cracks between the perspex and the blocks will trap all sorts of dust, bugs, crap etc. Why not just make a lid out of wire on a wooden frame: either fix down with hooks attached to eyes in the blocks, or make it too heavy for the ferts to push off.

If its not high enough they may be able to jump up. And you couldn't make it too high otherwise you wouldn't be able to get in. So the perspex or glass idea I think is a must

Ferrets are very good at escaping. if there's a will there a way.

They may use the bunny as a rope swing...that I would love to see! lol!

Some toys and tunnels would make it more fun. There's a guy on here who makes the best ferret wheels. And a litter tray is handy(if they bother to use it) stops them going everywhere.

How many ferrets you getting Gaz? Am sure there would be cheaper and more flexible ways of housing them.

Are you on the lookout for some ferrets?

I already had the blocks kicking around mate, thats why I've opted for this housing method cuz it's not cost me a penny.

After reading all of the advice I've opted for an aviary panel style roof. Made of 2 6x3 panels hinged in the middle so they can fold back for easy and quick access or the whole roof can be taken off completely.

At least I think that's the route I'm gonna go down. It just means I can't have the hanging rope for rabbit which I really like.

4 blocks high is just short of 3 feet which is a good jump for any ferret! As said in previous post I will probably put a roof on but might see how I go. Worst case scenario they jump out and mooch around the garage for a few hours. It's tidy and everything is in racking so they can't get into too much trouble.

I've used litter trays before. They usually shit somewhere else! Lol. He's picked a corner and seems to be sticking to it so that will do me. And I'm going to get some lengths of drain pipe or dryer hose to run around the run. Cheers. Gaz.

4 blocks will be fine mate unless your ferrets have a trampoline  if they do manage to break out then just lay some 3-3 edging stones on the tops but make sure there well stuck as one of them falling from 3ft will be fatal :cray:look forwood to seeing the finished build :boogy:

Cant understand the setup realy, especially if its in the garage with block work around then a perspex top! seems like thats gonna get hot in

there, poor ventilation. not very nice for ferrets cant even see out. plus it will smell surley

I would of just bought a nice big chicken coop or run and got a large peice of lino put lino down on garage floor and stuck the coop/run ontop.

Nice ferret cage, easy cleaning, jobs good and you can move it outside in summer etc.

I've never mentioned a Perspex lid. As you say it would be like a greenhouse.

It's a double garage with 3 opening windows and Vents aswell. No ventilation issues.

This is 6' x 6' maybe even 6' x 8' - much bigger than a chicken coop or big hutch.

The reason behind the setup is because a few years back I had ferrets at my dads and let then have the run of a small stable approx 15' x 6' and it worked very well. I am 6' 2" and cleaning out poxy hutches or coops isn't for me.
