In my opinion,...Lurchers open up for various reasons...

It is easy, to categorise the causes, and keep on quoting the obvious,...but, speaking personally,..over the years,.I have run dogs at a very young age,.hunted them in dense woodland,...let them loose on the lamp,...slipped them after hares, deers, and many other critters, (both wild and domestic), that could be sold for a profit,..and they have never made a murmer... :hmm:

Corrispondingly,..I have also held them back,..waited patiently, until well grown, kept them out of the brash and forest floor,..made doubly sure that they could run like the wind, twist and turn like snakes,..etc,.etc,..and they have still screamed their fecking lungs out...

Facts are,..all things being equal....

Some dogs yip,.and some dogs just don't....

Only reason dogs yap is because there no good. Best thing you can do is give um one last meal and you know the rest. Because they will only end up back in the field and some other poor c**t will do the same spend money on a bag of shit. I had a whippet bitch that worked well good little rabbiring dog. Marks up worked well with ferrets. I gave her to my pal as he had not got a dog to run up on dale. Any way i got a phone call saying hes had her out and shes not playing ball with him i said give itva few week and youll see a diffrent dog. One morning i gets a phone call saying she f****d off lol. He went out to ckean her out and feed her. And as hes turned his back shed jumped his six foot gate and f****d off . Well l thought dead dog no good wi roads. Well and hour went past and i thought al go have a look about for her. I asked a few people if theyd sin a whippet and got told they had spotted her two mile away on her way towards my village. When i got hime she was on my door step happy to see me. l felt a bit off a c**t but i told my pal he could have her and he helped me in the past. And i knew she had a good home and would get work up the dales. What a bitch lol

imo your first sentence is wrong. ive seen some damn good dogs that whimper abit on some runs, they have also put alot of game away time after time through out there life.

Bullshit if you was going to buy a dog and somebody put an add on and said good dog but yaps would you buy it? Would you f**k because even if it was a good dog soon as started doing that in field your quarry would be well gone tou maybe goung home wi odd bunnie. But not like you would with a dog that does yap.

if the dog was good at its job a little whimper wouldnt bother me at all, if the chaps was honest enough to tell me about that then hes got feck all to hide. no dog is perfect and they all have faults in one way or another. what a dog puts away at the end of the night/week concerns me more than a little whimper.

l ment to put does'nt yap cheers for that pal lol phone pads not working just like there dogs lol. It doesnt matter if its a home or out in field once would be enough for me even if it was just a yap on hedge row. You think of the quarry that bolts off soon as dog starts doing that no good.

Years ago i knew a dog that would run silent on rabbitt an fox always.....when it was put to deer in the open it ran silent...but when it hit cover with the deer it would let out the occasional bark !! Only in heavy cover with deer it done this...nothing else....but it was a great dog for gettin deer out of cover to....to answer original question on the thread...an occasional bark or yip wouldnt bother me as long as it didnt sing like a budgie eveytime it ran...

yeah but you say once is enough even if it was just a yap on a hedgrow what if the dog was chasing and ran whatever to the hedgerow and stumped its toe or something along those lines and you couldnt verify what had caused the yap wud that go straight in the river aswell of so you must go trough sum dogs pal atb
