bryanm45 787
A lot of people have an opinion on dogs they have never seen run. Pure greyhounds can make good dogs I seen one on daytime hares and he done the job. If bred and conditioned right they can kill good numbers. As for whippets I wouldn't own one why limit yourself. And every person I know who has had a whippet has always gone back to getting a crossbred .....How do you mean limit yourself with a whippet? Not everyone is happy to just catch rabbits mate. But what else is there? Quote Link to post

But what else is there? Plenty if you have a gun or hawk. I've seen a good little whippet struggle with a lively rabbit let alone anything else. And answer me this ...... I whippets are so brilliant why has everyone I know have gone back to the lurchers ???? Atb Quote Link to post
bryanm45 787
I don't know who you know mate, but obviously the people I come into contact with have whips and lurchers, I've never found any difference between what mine do and what there's does, legal quarry, it's personal preference mate, like buying a car, we all drive different cars but the all do the same job, if you had a gun or hawk a whippet will do the same job, they'll be people on here who use hawks and whips, just don't see why people see the need to run them down at the first opportunity, cracking dogs in my eyes, mine are pets first but with working benefits, they live in house, they ferret with me, I have good fun with them when out, i lamp them, I race them, I lure course with them, I'm happy to go out on a Sunday morning bag a couple of bunny's to feed ferrets me and dogs, can't ask any more they do all I need. bobby blackheart 1,209
I once worked a pure greyhound, lacked brain, wind, feet, coat, nose, only thing she had going for her was speed, wouldnt thank you for another, i can live with slightly less speed, buster. I've got a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 beddy now. His body is like a pure greyhound and when wet (he's rough haired) you can reall see his shape. The Beddy has given him good feet, outstanding nose, great coat, plenty of stamina and he has retained the speed. I fancied the same with collie a while back. Really like the 3/4 greys. is there any cross u don't fancy ? Lol I've fancied most breeds at some point, i'm quite open minded unlike some on here who are just set on one breed and say all others are shite you must know your stuff-lol- I once worked a pure greyhound, lacked brain, wind, feet, coat, nose, only thing she had going for her was speed, wouldnt thank you for another, i can live with slightly less speed, buster. robwelsh 354
I think far to.many right off a certain x or breed just from one experience with one dog, untill say 2 years old and got rid. To know any breed or cross really well and have an understanding of it will take years with the same x. If everyone's happy with what they got, let them crack on. At end of day you won't feed a dog you don't like...lol Quote Link to post

My words were "I've fancied most breeds at some point, i'm quite open minded unlike some on here who are just set on one breed and say all others are shite". Thats not me offering advice, or telling someone what to do, or even arguing with anyone. I was simply saying im open minded! Quote Link to post

Lampalurcher 47
Each to their own the main issue I have with whippets is there owners to be honest I asked you earlier to explain why you think whips were pointless, now it's the owners not the dog, mate your a star. He,s a bit mixed up I reckon, if its no the whippets but there owners maybe he should get one and then awe us other whippet owners will be cool like him I stand by what I said whippets are piss an the owners are worse as they just seem to think there the muts nuts yer there grand rabbit dogs but there shredded hitting the slightest cover and all the ones I've seen are piss weak shivering stupid animals that do nowt but hunt up Quote Link to post
