Was within spitting distance on my lunch break today so I had to take a look;               Though they had to wait nearly 70yrs for the memorial, it was worth it.   Just thought

They should have just written " by by Dresden" in big letters over the top ! Lol lol......or......" Behave yourself Andrea Merkel or your next" lol lol   The young men of that generation must be amo

My Grandad was staying with me for a few weeks last autumn - he wanted to see the bomber monument as well, so we went to London for a couple days, and saw that, and the "Animals in war" one on Hyde Park , amongst other things - we both had leaky eyes at that one too - very powerful. On a somewhat circular tour, we went to the fighter plane ( excuse the girlie terminology, and my geography, which is just as bad...) one near Folkestone ( perhaps ! ) which is stunning - a huge propellor blade carved on a cliff, and a monument wall. All looking out to sea. Stunning.

I know we shouldn't live in the past - but we should remember it and honour it.

It was a humbling experience.

f**k that going over the top thankfully todays soldiers would prob tell them to go f**k themselfs lol

Aye but they did what needed to be done

in no way would i sully the war dead, everyone of them died heroes in my book, even the ones shot for so called cowardice, but the great war was a needless waste of a generation.by silly ego tastical generals with ridiculous tactics.should have been them all shot at dawn.true what a german general said and the quote was spot on .Lions led by donkeys.

if that were today, the numbers of soldiers fallen would have been totally unaceptable.guess a life was cheap to those generals.i say generals they were either born into thier commision or bought it.

BH; I'm taking it you've got ~ or at least heard ~ the Radio 4 production of the Len Deighton novel, " Bomber " ?

Without doubt, simply the best drama adaptation I've ever heard over a radio

Where Would I Get That From Pete ?
