As far as a bushing machine a Plummer needs no infusion of any breed . Let alone a Patterdale. The Patterdales skill is earthwork, not bushing. 3 Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Share Posted February 24, 2013 I've bred about 15 litters of plummer/nuttalls fells,first and second cross and bred a lot of outstanding earthdogs, they also made good bushing/all round dogs,the first cross in my opinion were better seeming to take the better qualities from both breeds,but I must add both parents on all occassions were heavilly worked,WM This is the kind of pup you get from a smooth coated fell and this is the sort from a rough coated patt I found using a rough coated dog to the plummer that the litter would be split 50/50 on coats,colourwise and type. I still maintain Plummer made a mistake using a bullcross for the "new blood" as it took too long and too much litter wastage to breed out and reduce the size back to the stuff we're seeing today,if there is a male red smooth coated patt that is a decent earthdog out there at the moment that is available for stud then please pm me,many thanks,WM 2 Quote Link to post
