Never tried pickling Cucumbers FD. Gherkin's are a type of cucumber that are picked at about 3 inches long. I found this on line I hope it explains.

Tomato's I start by taking off all side shoots and all leafs below the first truss for better air circulation. Then as they get bigger I usually remove all leafs below the second truss and take out few more leafs if they get bushy. Will try take some photos latter.

Cheers Arry

I pickle a lot of veg and found that gherkins or cucumbers are best picked and pickled as early as possible before the skins toughen up.

Cheers.

Runners half way up the canes and just starting to flower at the bottom. Doubt the first flower will produce though.

Just normal malt vinegar, little bit of sugar and warm water.
I sometimes use brown vinegar but the missus insists on white vinegar.

Cheers.

With bind weed I mix weedkiller with some wallpaper paste in a jar. Then use a little modelling paint brush to paint it on so it don't drip off on to other plants.

Cheers Arry

I sprayed a massive of bindweed on a garden I'd bin asked to like ,unknown 2 me the was a Privett hedge underneath it all ,killed the Privett but only checked the bindweed temporarily

Your loam looks fantastical

Took a few years mate was crap when I first moved here over 40 years ago. I had peeler crab pots on the river and used to bring back sea weed to keep the peeler crabs fresh. That sea weed went on the garden even extra. Imo sea weed is the best thing to improve soil.
