marshman 7,758
One of my terriers bolts his meat and he's past out whilst eating , I picked him up gave him a squeeze and he came back round. Now I know the answer is to feed him smaller pieces so he doesn't choke but the pieces I feed my dogs aren't large and ive never seen any of my other dogs passed out while eating! Now I am wondering if it might be something else have any of you come across this or am I worrying for nowt and the dogs just a pig???
Sirius 1,391
Feed him small bits and put a brick or heavy ball in the bowl, so he has to eat round it, it slows them down, terriers are terrrible for bolting there grub from experience. marshman 7,758
Nah liquidise hes food , ill change he'd grub to complete and if he does it again ill have him down the vets and if it is more serious ill have him pts. He's a working dog at the end of the day!! Also I'm having a bit of a humour failure as I can't see what's funny in a tidy little grafting dog choking and putting it on hear for people to laugh at .

socks 32,253
As has been said you need to find a way of slowing down his eating ... Sounds like he is bolting his grub and not taking a breath causing him to pass out ........

The thought of a dog making itself pass out through being a ganet is amusing but nevertheless serious Apologies for any offence Still think liquidising is the best option, it will definately slow his eating down. J.DOG 1,355
My dads ebt used to do this we bought a dog bowl that has solid partition type thing in it to make the digest slower it worked till the fecker chewed the partitions lol
B.P.R 2,798
You can buy dog bowls with a raised center so the dog cant hoover the food up and it has to eat round the bowl. Also marshman, i dont understand why you would need him pts if he passes out sometimes when he eats? If it is a serious medical condition which is affecting him then i can see why. But if its just simply 'he passes out when eating because hes a greedy git' then i cant see a problem aslong as hes working fine? I See you have said 'if it is more serious' then you will have him pts. So you will be thinking along the same lines as me Lets hope its not more serious
