cantona 310
having a debate with a mate about a dog he owned that took fox with other dogs but when tryed on own spewed it untill other dog joined in, the thing is he said that it did take them on its own another time, the dog was about 2 when i saw it spew it and he thinks it was the second fox it saw and the first single handed attempt, he cant remember how many foxs untill it did single handed as it was in the eaighties, anyway does any one recall a dog spewing on fox but then making the grade later on because i cant think of any and i saw my fair share back in the day, thanks for any feedback Quote Link to post
Chid 6,844
Old story I was told , We'll call the fella bob lol Well bob had a dog that wouldn't take a fox at all for him , swapped the dog for a wee pup from a boy , who then took the dog out at the weekend and killed 2 foxes , which was witnessed by a few people (out with hounds) ,so some dogs can make the grade when seemingly they have jacked Quote Link to post
paulf 820
seen it with my old dog gypsy ,prob get loads of shit from some but here goes , slipped this dog at fox with his brother at night they caught shook got bit dropped it then walked away. i was a bit pissed off but the dog was mainly for bunnies and hares ,tried him later on maybe 18 monthes later and he went straight to it .now plenty seen this dog on fox and he turned out the best fox dog i have ever seen ,would mark earths work great with terriers. not saying he was quicker thaan a bull cross for killing but didnt take long .this dog was single handed on then aswell ,though he wasnt on fox everynight but had a few .problem is people dont give there dogs a chance . 2 Quote Link to post

bird 10,014
i suppose its how much fox work its getting, as to it jacking on them or if it as to run double up in the 1st place.? As most lurchers will tackle the odd fox, but doing say 15 or more foxes a week+ every week.I never just went out (just) for foxes pre ban, but if bumped into them would let the dog have a go, and he done odd few in a week, but not out+out what i would call fox work, and thats the (big) differnce i think , as regards this post 2 Quote Link to post
paulf 820
like i said mine was not on them constantly so he may well of pulled up who knows ,but he never showed any sign of it iwouldnt of got rid if he did as all he had to please was me . Quote Link to post
Macky 227
pre ban had a mate of mine suliki /bull greyhound was good single handed and paired up been out with it for 4 years ,caught hell of a lot of foxes one night we where out went for big numbers ,so slipped 2 dogs 1 was the dog i am on about the other dog came back ,the dog was making such a racket i thought it had got hooked up on barbed wire a couple of the lads went to find the dog ,it had not got hooked up it had a big dog fox the dog looked worse for wear ,we give it a 1week or so to heal up but that dog never took another fox again so a dog can spew at any time of life and i have never seen a dog that spewed ever make it back 1 Quote Link to post
