It's no coincidence that during our two best periods in the Permiership era we had Schmeichel and Van der Sar in goal commanding everything in the box and organising the defence.. A goalie like one of those gives the defence confidence to play without worrying about what's behind them. De Gea is promising, but he ain't in charge of his area and his players in it just yet.. Been following United since the mid 's when I first started taking an interest in football because my old man had grown up following them under Matt Busby..
