rob190364 2,594
3 or 4 border collie owners used to meet up at a field near my ma and pas and would do a sort of agility thing....nothing major, just 2 or 3 hurdles and a couple of rings. Some wanker busybody phoned the council to report them and they sent people down there the next time they were there and next thing there's a big sign up saying no organised activities allowed....typical council jobsworths!!!! Surely meeting a mate for a wander at the park is an organised activity???? and if it's the props that caused a problem then what's the difference between taking a ring or a hurdle and taking a ball to throw for the dog. I would imagine you'd have the same problem with a lure machine. Basically, councils use our money to create jobs for dickheaded train spotter types to create rules that are simply not needed. Simple as that! But unless you kept going at the same time every week like they used to do then I don't really see how they'd stop you.

B.P.R 2,798
went out with the lure yesterday for half an hour on a football field out the way of houses etc. the ground was boggy and in minutes the place was a quagmire. i was just testing the lure out really. it ran perfect BUT im struggling with a 'lure'. last time i had made some out of barrier tape and they were working fine but the line doesnt seem tight enough as the lure is light. i put a couple of bolts on the end of the line to add a bit of weight. the line snapped a couple fo time so im assuming it was too heavy. any ideas for a lure? ive got old camo trousers cut up etc but they absorb the damp and weigh far to much for the lure. it drags so much the dogs catcxh it no problem. it needs to be light enought for the lure, heavy enough to cause a LITTLE drag and keep the line tight BUT not absorb water? scothunter 12,609
an old soft toy of sorts,or a cushion case, just keep adding to it or taking away, till you get the desired affect

B.P.R 2,798
Lookin good Lee. What about a gundog dummy with a rabbit pelt attached? gundog dummy is ok but would knock the turns out a soft toy bounces too much and im sure a pillow case would absorb water? AirgunGuy 362
A small lightish teddy with a rabbit pelt attached. The rabbit pelt may wind them up that wee bit more ;-)
