cocpops 19
Can anyone comment on hollow points for hunting ? There's that much choice now it would save a lot of time and money if anyone can comment. Good or bad ? Quote Link to post
bushing lad 114
i shot my 1st squirrel with a hollow point at the weekend and it was a clean kill to he head. so they work for me but ime no expert Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Brilliant for rats and feral pigeons mate or even bunnies out to around 30 yards. After that they seem to loose their accuracy a tad compared to domed pellets. The XVI is use zeroes pellet on pellet at 25 metres with RWS Super H Point. Si. Quote Link to post
j j m 6,625
i use the hollow point for close work 25 30 yards on pigeons and rabbits to good effect Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
I've tried them for shorter range shooting, but to be honest ended up sticking to super domes in the springer and AA Fields in the PCP's. Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
try the H&N sillouetes..theyre sort of the oposite of a hollow point Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Id say if .177 they help not to over penetrate in barns etc but if its .22 I would just stick to what you know.. Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Don't f**k about with different pellet shapes, just find out what brand suits you rifle best and stick with that. As above though, if over penetration's an issue with regards to property, I've had decent results with Super H Points in the past or just try a quality flat head. 1 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
I dont bother with them,a fad if anything, as the fella aboves post says just get a flat. Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
Only ever used super H points UNDER 20 yds Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Why waste time and money looking for, or restricting your effective ranges with a short/medium range pellet? Your quary will not have complaints or issues about the ammo you choose to send zipping into its brain, so stick to what your rifle is at its likely best with, in all scenarios. And that will be a diablo, domed pellet. Pianoman 1 Quote Link to post

Daz 7 563
What's the holdover like daz? My Falcon Menace has 8 mildots below cross hairs and in between each mildot is a half mildot @ 60 yards i'm on the last mildot  Even though it's not meant to be used for these sort of ranges it can be done . But for now the Beast has the Pulsar adorned on it zeroed at 25 yards as the max i'll need for this Saturdays Rat shooting is 20 yards around the Farm. And trust Me when i say at these short ranges nothing touches it for all out Smacking power  atvb Daz 7. Quote Link to post
