midnight

midnight knife making compatition (only 8 places )

Recommended Posts

when your ready to send them just pm and we can organise postage etc .

it doesnt take anything for me to do it , so i can do them one at a time .

are you guys using the hard backing on your paper ??

it makes a huge difference if the paper is backed with something very hard like metal . you can press down harder and get alot more from the paper , when you get to fine grit you can leave the last piece of paper on and simply add the next over the top . also are you clamping it down ?

i used a G clamp to hold down a length of 2x4 timber to the bench then another G clamp to hold the blank to the timber , then i could wrap paper round the file and hold either side of it and get a good accurate scratch pattern .

Been busy with other things so not made a knife for a while. There is a KITH over on EM and the challenge was to make a Puukko form recycled materials....right up my street.
Blade ground form a HSS industrial planer blade. Handle is stacked from recycled brass, copper, stainless and filled in with denim Micarta. All cast onto the handle in a oner then ground to shape.
