4" block work pointed right then painted will be fine no need to render. And there are loads of single skin garage's.

It might take more than a day, as there is a limit to how high they can build in one day, as the weight of the bricks pushes out the wet cement at the bottom. Again get a builder to give you a price.

OK

MALT I would imagine you would want for the OP to have some decent advice based on knowledge  .

I am not picking on G2E he and as in G2E questioned me recommending engneering bricks so I am intrested if the lad has any brickie/building knowledge to base that comment on thats all.

Happy days Cookie

Thanks for the replies lads. Ive got a local builder coming round next week to price the base and blockwork up.

Ive had a look at digging the trench last night for drainage, didnt do too much on the digging front, just measuring up and seeing the best route to take.

Couple of photos from last night to show where I need to dig my channel. I was going to come straight down the border by the fence but this will mean demolishing the 2 x step down walls on the patio.

So im going to come a couple of feet further into the grass and then come under the wall and under the patio and miss the step down walls, then hopefully it will just be a matter of putting the slabs back and replacing the grass witha few rolls of turf.

try and keep your drainmage pipe as straight as possible gareth, with as little bends and prefereably no corners in it until either the exit into the mains or at the very start, it will only slow the flow of solids and possibly cause you blockages in the long term. When you tap into the main sewer, try and configure it that the material running down your pipes enter the seawer pipes running with the flow ie the sit hits the flow of the sewers in the same direction lol.

Am looking forward to seeing your finished set up, nice to see someone goung about things with a bit of planning and thought.

One word of advice, if theres a certain product you need and can afford, and it will sort of do the job, or a product that will be a "one job and its done" sort of thing but its more expensive, and you cant quite afford it, save up a couple of weeks and get the better one, in a while you'll be glad you did,i.e with the roofing sheets.

All the best

Ok thanks for the advise mate. Appreciate that.

I don't actually plan to put solids down there but I will take your advise regardless.

Cheers

Gaz if i was you mate i would have the trap at the start of the run underneath the outlet from the acos .I know you are only planning to send water down it but you will be surprised what else goes down eg dog hair etc and the trap can end up blocking at least if its under theaco you can lift the grid off and get your hand in there and clean it out. Also wher you are joining up to the mains are you breaking into a manhole or just T,ing into a pipe?

do your drainage last, all them trenches will just be in the brickies way,and if its only 5m long with sides i wouldnt hesitate in taking it up 2m its only 9 courses high atb

Call me daft but dont you need your drainage in before the concrete base???

Yep drainage in first BUT stuff something in the open end to stop all the crap falling in there whilst the build goes on ... As has been said put the trap in at the base it's what I was advised and it makes sense as its easy to clean if it gets blocked .......
