Sold my first hand crafted stock today.

After 50 hours or carving, plainning and laborious sanding I finally put the finishing touches to the first customs stock, created from my prototype.

 

Luckily for me my first customer was a fellow S300 owner making the transference of accurate measurements a whole lot simpler.

 

Given the customers feedback the stock turned out better than he had expected and much to my relief as I designed :-)

 

The stock built specifically for the S300 provided a good center of gravity just forward of the trigger guard and comfortable hand stippled grip, the stock also provided a basic level of left hand shooting but was mainly constructed for the right handed marksman.

 

After fitting the action for the customer I was glad to see he was very happy with my work and showed his appreciation +££

 

Now I can relax and prepare for my next project oh and Uni..

It's a mix of a few stocks I've seen over the years, there's some MPR ft in there too :-)

 

Difficult to make something completely unique!

 

Much like music, such as Gotye's - Somebody I used to know which has the Baa Black sheep melody in it :-)

As you say, it's difficult to produce a unique style of stock these days, but I guess there aint many stocks made out of that particular wood. That wood "feel's" great in the hand.

It is a superb bit of work I will admit, it just said Theoben to me though. I must take the tablets again...

It did make me look at theobens Moley, there is some likenesses in the front I suppose!

 

The side elevation doesn't show the true width of the stock, it's quite narrow in reality, doubt a buddy bottle would fit unfortunately :-)

 

Thinking of a bullpup stock next, see how that goes.
