He looks like that paki Elvis tribute

can be done by a gun smith and taken off ticket with a certificate issued by the gunsmith stating that it meets all legal requirements for being sub 12ft lbs, there was a gunshop/smith making good mon

100% legally, no, read home office regs, some allow it, but better to avoid a gun being put on ticket in the first place, ruins value of gun and limits where you can use it (depending if you have fac in the first place), because it ruins the value of a gun so much, it would be an easy way of getting a cheapgun like a rapid if you could get it de-registered tho

No if it goes on ticket , it stays on ticket ..............forever

not quite but rules apply on barrell length  Section 7(2) of the Firearms (Amendment) Act, 1988 means that it is NOT possible to reclassify an air rifle from being a Section 1 air rifle to a non FAC air rifle by reducing its kinetic energy, if the barrel is rifled and the barrel length is less than 24”

Hello Davy.

Hmmm :hmm: One of those questions with a string of plauseable answers, :hmm:

There's is nothing to stop you from returning a power-tuned and FAC registered air rifle back to sub-12ft/lb. If you intend to keep the rifle for continued personal use

However....

The Law says once you register it, it must stay registered. The problem this ruling covers is the likely intended resale of the de-tuned "firearm" to an unregistered, non-FAC shooter. It is to prevent him from purchasing and retuning it back to high power illegally. You cannot simply make a lethally powerful firearm dissapear from UK Firearms registration.

The best thing would be to consult your Police Authority issuing your FAC with the weapon covered by them and see if there is a certificate of exemption or something ??.

I agree with Paulus, I think you can legally sell it to a proper, Registered Firearms Dealer only. Who then, can legally detune it, provide the Police with proof/evidence of this and sell it on as an ordinary sub-12 air rifle.

But once you put an air rifle on ticket, there it must stay. As far as you and the law are concerned.

Regard mate.

Simon

if it was not possible there would not be an ammendment in the firearms act, its no different to having a shotgun or rifle deactivated to hang on your wall it has to be done by a registerd person and certified by that person that it meets current requirements in law. the 24 inch barrell ammendment applies to all aswell as fac air rifles, its to stop people being silly and deactivaing and selling as a sawn off or whatever

Illegally yes......Legally it depends, most Counties have different views......ie once a FAC always a FAC. Avon and Somerset is a definite No No.

Just by coincidence Archie, I know an RFD in Somerset who has got an S410 that has been taken off ticket, not sure of the exact circumstances though.

I would imagine the circumstances would be interesting to say the least.......... :whistling:

No it can not!!,

Davy; if it could be done I would have had it done by now!

It can be taken back to sub12, but it remains FAC. I've been fighting to get my Ultra back, for over a year and a half now and the ONLY way I can get it back is to buy a safe, get more land, get a clean bill of health from the Dr. And apply then be granted the FAC.

If someone has documented evidance to prove it can be done, I would be very happy and gratefull to see it
