On a serious note, they probably scour the whole country, which is fecking HUGE, to find someone who has potential to be very good, and then make them devote their whole life to training and winning a

Cuba , the yanks do it in the own way sports college grants etc , underachieving. Brits lol lol. No we're just Brits The cultural. Mix that's America also helps there recruiting system , the Chinese. Ian Thorpe said he did the same at her age. I'll tell ya whats a disgrace, supporting an event that praises sporting excellence and then as soon as that is discovered crying drugs cheat! A sportsman would have kept their gob shut untill proof was on the table. Sour grapes in the yank camp in my opinion.

Not to sound like a dick.....but Born Hunter i think you have a great outlook to sport and near always find myself agreeing with your comments  ...........Just out of interest have you competed yourself at anything ?......ive often found those least critical of top athletes are usually those who know what its like to compete themself.

Absolutely right.....some nations are just far more dedicated to the cause than we are.............personally i dont think its right the way they break kids down but its not a competition of morals its a competition of sport and they do what they need to do to win who are we to say its wrong its just not how we do it..................but it dont make them cheats !

Does anyone think there going over the top once again. Surely getting to the final is most important and theres nothing in the rules(i dont think) that says you must try your hardest to win?

Thanks, but no I haven't ever competed. Never really been good enough at anything as a kid so never got involved in anything seriously. Genuinely one of my biggest regrets as now I look at a number of sports and wish I had given them a serious go, if just for my own personal satisfaction. I would say however that I am a fairly competative person and have a lot of pride our Nation. But hey, you don't have to be a massive sportsfan to stand in awe of an athlete that is a step above the best. I just don't think it's right to taint what is probably the greatest moment in an athletes life without 100% proof of your claims.

We've got the thread about the GB squad under achieving, so what's others opinions about the Chinese swimmer who found 5 seconds on her previous personal best and did the last 50 metres of the swim in her event faster than the men did.

Something not right there, 1/4 second or 1/2 second improvement maybe but 5 f*****g seconds !

I think it's a bloody embarrassment that the BBC were making so much of the story......4 tests that kid has done and all negative!

Until someone proves different then that kid is a great athlete

The young Lithuania girl has done basically the same she is coached by Brits she has been tested as all athletes are at these games , the Chinese girl is under the spot light because she is brilliant. , phelps never got this when he won 8 in one games Yes. Their are cheats , but there raw talent in every sport the. TRICK IS IDENTIFYING IT AT AN EARLY AGE the Chinese. Scour the country and have for decades as the ussr and the USA We wait till they walk in a gym

Look at her body she like phelps has the perfect shape for swimming. She has been raised to swim every waking day , eat drink and sleep honing her skill improving her faults. ,it's hard for people to understand they need to be the best at everything and throw every thing at it
