I know for a fact that the terrier judge knows how spell RUSTLE? as he's head honcho in the Scottish branch of the Jack RUSSELL Terrier Club of Great Britain.

Predictive text maybe ?

Either way your comment had nothing to do with the question. Is there any truth in this ? If so I find it hilarious : ))

No truth in it, Dessie got 1st and 2nd in Russel dog class, my dog got 3rd. They were all dogs. There was a wee girl walked into the ring with a bitch and was asked to wait to the bitch class. I'm guessing that's what he's referring to, which has nothing to do with the standard of judging.

Salukilurchers, In the dog class, a wee girl came into the ring with her dog and was asked to wait untill the following class as she had got mixed up. In the bitch class I then presented her with a special rosette that the steward had as extras for kids. The wee girl was over the moon because she had been presented with this rosette. No one complained to the bairn getting a rosette in front of them. Did you also notice that I put out two pups from the show. One was 11 weeks old and the other was 13 weeks old. Both of these owners were told by myself to go and collect their money back from the steward as i would not be touching their pups. Reason being was that if i had been unlucky enough to pick anything up from another dog, I would not want to have passed it onto a small pup. When i explained this to the owners they were most understanding and left happily. Now, throughout the whole day of judging there was not anyone complained to me or to anyone else that i was doing ought wrong so i can only presume that folk enjoyed the day.

Although i do not have to justify myself to you i will say that i have kept Russells for over thirty years and as well as being secretary for the JRTCGB Scottish region, I have run terrier and lurcher shows for Fife foxhounds as well as being terrierman to this pack for over twenty of these years. I do feel that all this gives me a wee bit of knowledge to use when judging a show. yours in sport Del.

P.S. BPR, The grass was a tad long too lol.

Derek,

We normally cut the grass but with the weather forecasted and accurate we did not risk it. At Ballywalter the lurcher track and rings were cut twice and rolled four times. Not quite like a billiard table but as good as we could make it.

this is all getting out of hand all this bitching slagging others of this judge done this the other done that its a show a thing we are ment to enjoy and the judges should be given a wee bit of respect they traveled over here to judge out of the the love for there choisen breed after all this that has went on over the weekend whos ever gonna put them selfs fordword to judge are shows again

i myself have judged afew time now and its no easy task i for one would never judge again if i was treated the way these men have been its a joke in my eyes the whippet judge done a cracking job on the day with a very good standered of dog

ive been going to shows now for going on 15 years from the first ones in shanes castle ran by the mid antrim terrier lurcher club and in my eyes the lurcher and terrier seen has went to the dog that much so i dont think ill be at another

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
