torchey 1,328
Only the small man worries about the morals of money, but the thing is it has no morals......it just "is" The ordinary bloke worries about who he owes, he worries about going skint, he feels shame at the thought of bankruptcy.......big business feels none of these things. That's why people in high finance can go skint time and again but will still find investors for the next big deal.......money has no feelings and why should it? At the end of the day it's all just numbers on a bit of paper, so get your cut and f**k it IMHO Do you think the leaders of Greece will be embarrassed when they go skint? Will they f**k, they will still pick up the salary and crack on much the same as before.......and they will get a high paid job somewhere and there will be no end of potential employers. When folk start to understand that money means nothing, it feels nothing and is just there to be used then they won't feel as bad about things........ one thing for sure though, your f****d without it...
PlasticJock 539
Mass withdrawals would certainly shake them, but it would also cripple the nation. Don't think you would get many pats on the back from the populace And this is the major problem from where I'm sitting. They'd love mass civil unrest as they'd impose martial law and emergency acts to stop it in its tracks. So the only option to me is to educate people to the point where they know the whole truth and decide what they want for their future. Like in a democracy. Then again, the reason banks are allowed to not pay tax quite openly is because it would also cripple the nation if they packed up and left. Well yes it would if we were still playing that game. Again, you'll hear fcuk all about Iceland because the people changed their own future and the leaders of this country don't like the idea of anyone thinking for themselves. Caprelous 217
You cant beat the system like i said in previous posts but you can have nothing what so ever to do with the involvement by non participation. I doubt very much such small non involvement will effect the system in any way as it would need millions to come out of banking and as they are sqeezing their nuts hard at present the threat of loosing their assets is enough to deter any rebelion. me thinks. The tinternet is a massive weapon and if people are made aware of how the system works against them you never know but dont hold your breath that things will change i certainly am not and resigned to the fact that its corrupt I only hope the next generation dosent get stuffed by it. scothunter 12,609
I'd be more happy if Iceland paid us the cash we gave then. It's all very well praising them, but like it or not they owe the uk and the Dutch a stack of cash.
PlasticJock 539
Why should the citizens of a country pay back privately owned bank debts? That's what's happening here ffs tell you what, my business needs £3 million for an overseas project so I'll borrow it from you personally but not ask your permission, just do as you're told. Oh wait, that didn't work out we're now running at a £5 million loss so I'll pull the plug. Right we owe £5 million so you can pay that, cheers. Oh and by the way, if the project had worked you wouldn't have seen any profits, it's none of your business, got nothing to do with you, just give us money or we'll put you in jail and make your life a misery until you play ball. THAT'S WHAT'S HAPPENING!!!!

WILF 48,925
Why would a bank " do you a favour" ?......what reason would they have ? They are out to get every last penny of profit out of the job, same as any business should. Will anyone complain when they switch the tap off to Greece?....I doubt it. The only thing different about a country or joe soap in the street is the size of the number!......when they can't see any more to be earned out of the job they will cash it in. We are all just worker ants, live with it! Edited June 19, 2012 by WILF
Malt 379
The never ending quest for profit will be the end of our way of life IMO. Maybe not in our lifetimes, but sooner or later the whole lot is going to come crumbling down and no amount of chucking borrowed money at the problems will stop it.. Caprelous 217
Theres no hope for anyone in this country whilst we remain in the EU community and we have the influx of EU citizens undercutting what is basically a meager crust that we are being thrown to survive on. They seem to survive on straining cabbage water or living off gruel. Mind you its no wonder because in the country they left to take the jobs here its what they was used to. Exploitation of these meager payments by firms here has meant that those that paid their way and who was in work before, find they now no longer can support there lifestyle and families. Its blatently obvious what needs to be done send the ferkers back to their own country and get ourselves out of this shite. Edited June 19, 2012 by Caprelous
PlasticJock 539
Just out of interest, seeing as we obviously have some good minds and differing opinions here, what would be your ideal solution? Mine would be this - 1. Cancel all debts owed to us, and by us. 2. Leave the EU. 3. Completely remodel our banking system, and set an example for the rest of the world who would remember that we don't have to rely on private organisations to print our nations money. 4. Invest in our children, they are the future. 5. Any big decisions ie. joining the EU/leaving it would be subject to a full public referendum. 6. Invest in farming/agriculture, allowing us to be more self sufficient. 7. Encourage British manufacturing, instead of ringing China everytime we need plastic toys making. 8. A temporary block on immigration while we sort this mess out. 9. Business start ups with a sound plan and solid footing would get more help. 10. The media and banking sectors would be independently regulated. 11. Arms manufacturers would not be allowed to accompany the PM on 'meetings' to other countries, as they have been recently. 12. All public figures and bodies, including the Crown, would have to declare all other business interests. 13. All MP's expenses and wages to be dropped to a reasonable level. The current excuse for obscene wages is 'we want to attract the best', lower wages will attract those who want to make a change. I'm sure there's plenty more and I know these sound naive but it's a start, and represent to me the main points of society that need addressing.
scothunter 12,609
A conventional world War! Thins out over crowding, settles a lot of bad blood and I'll feeling, united nations and afterwards we rebuild and In most cases old enemies become new friends. I am in favour that taxes need to be paid but Scrap VAT which is a tax stopping growth to industry. Income Tax should be linked to amount earned as it is now but at a lower rate. This again will make products competitive in a world market.. Taxation on fuel should be at a set level thats sustainable by those who need it as the taxes charged are hiking products up making it unsustainable to a world and home market. The taxation system is stifling growth in all industries. More business start of grants from Government banks overseen by independent financial advisers. More assistance to new business to obtain contracts in other countries which helps export income to the economy. More investment in industrial design and alternative energy which would be marketable to supporting countries which would reduce our countries reliance for energy abroad.
