dogs and hawgs

Recommended Posts

well was 2004 we made a trip out to the texas rosewell border, to meet an old dog man d heis he had hawg dogs, coursing hounds allsorts , so we go along the pecos river, got three scenting hounds a big staghound and two draw dogs, pionter cross pit , and hound pit , so on we go we arrive at our destnation i go down to the river bank see if there hawg prints a couple, but not much he looses the dogs of,

we listen as there working the river banks for a good 15 minutes ole red hound starts barking but hees heading fast, out the area we are in , dave puts the telementry on , we pick them up on a river bottom coverd with scrub , the dogs , are been at it for a while as its big land and pure wild hawgs , he says go in with the 44 i says get the big dawgs in , he looses one of ,a scrap procceds , they see its a european bore so they hock him as he is worth money to the game ranchers, dogs are not to badly marked , so of we go ,again nothing close we follow dogs with tracker for an hour then they hit a small family group half grown young ones etc , they get two of them ,we had enough for the day , got the dinner and some for the dawgs on the way back , round the mesquite bushes ,we see an old dog coyote with a jack rabbit , they leave him today as well we have had our sport , and great sport it was we traveld all round new mexico hunting and having a great time with like minded souls all self made men with there own style of dogs

if we got the ban lifted be great for people with land as well be more open and more land to rent , usa is a great land to hunt wide open tons of public land and lots to go at with dogs guns all the best

ps a recipe they made out there with the belly pork ,a pound of pork belly , two tin of tomatoes, pound of potatoes ,two onions, tumeric, garli clove two ,two stock cubes , and water roughly a pint, salt and pepper to taste , you fry the meat with spices browning them in olive oil , put the meat in pan with stock and veg simmer for two hoursin oven , agreat stew could do it with rabbs etc but would need a bit fat pork for iol and richness you can add chilli like what the mexican s do

An enjoyable read, more posts like this and less of the other kind and you'd get less stick. I love hearing about how its done overseas, one day I'll get out there to see.
