albertj i no what your saying. thought ballywalter last year was a good day out and shanes castle is always a brilliant day out like i said before i very rarely enter my dogs in anything at the shows so reckon i mite have went abit over the top and stuck my nose in where it wasn't needed

I speak frankly and don't mind frank talk and I admire a man who can say he's even a little bit wrong! If I get it wrong and like all forthright people I do - I am never afraid to say so. Hope to see you at Shanes and hear your opinion of the judges there. As with Ballywalter we will announce them so that people who do not like a particular judge don't have a wasted journey.

anybody feelin proud of th dog winning a faggy ribbon should start racing at drumbo park instead, atleast ya win good doe for the win, lurchers are all different so how do ya race them fairly????? bre

very interesting reading this thread-----lads , just forget it, its only fun , if you want to keep winning , buy a purebred and race it at shelbourne or somewhere closer to you , if these people are c

thought the whole day was shit can't say i was cheated on anything because all i took was a terrier never entered him in anything but afew mates that had good working lurchers in the shows where abit

i dont have a problem with rose judging the shows she's probably the best person to judge the whippet type lurchers you could get because her whippet types lurchers are probably the fastest in the country and she's supposed to work them aswell but there where afew classes she has no experience in and alot of poeple where saying she picked her friends and that bullx's wherent standing a chance i only seen 2 or 3 lurcher classes the last was the veteran class then i had to go make sure the missus wasn't buying are house a full makeover

Bottom line is the dog in question welcome to race at Shnes and the whippet club Better still the dog done nothing wrong the dog should be made welcome and the owener refuse admission to the events? And the black dog that knocked 6 bells outof all in it's heat will it be able to race at Shanes? who is going to put their dog in the same heat? to get their race ruimed and rehaps a good dog ruined or badly hurt Lastly the guy with a trailer load of greys has he qualifed for the master McGarth? Will be be back at the next event to race his Greyhounds?

I thought I had finished on this thread but fair points Pigsy. You and I often disagree but I enjoy our debates!

As you will know elsewhere I have asked Kirsty publicly twice to put up the breeder and the breeding of the dog. If I don't get an answer within the next week I will assume that this information will not be made available. To date all we have is a vague assertion that it was bred by someone in Greysteel.

I am meeting with the Glenbank club today to discuss these matters. BUT since I made the decision to let it run on Sunday along with two other unegistered dogs I personally will make the decision whether it can run as a whippet at Shanes. I did question its legitimacy as a whippet but was told it had been passed by the Sporting Whippet Club and a top judge of whippets. If the matter is not cleared up Kirsty's dog will be allowed to run at Shanes BUT only in the under 21 class.

For 2013 - it is likely that whippet racing will be restricted to KC registered whippets only.

I did not see the incident with the black dog but I will be discussing with Matt about the problem about persistent offenders. Such barging can be accidental as can be seen at greyhound raciing daily but there is a case for disqualifying persistent offenders.

On the alleged greyhound front - this is difficult. a 15/16 grey hound is eligible and full is not. Without knowing the breeding it is impossible for anyone to distinguish. Again we will look at taking an objection but please don't do so on the basis of rumour.

We have introduced the new Novice Directors Challenge and if we decide to continue to support the terriers & lurchers into 2013 we will have it on a level with the Master Mc Grath. So within this everyone has a chance of a good prize.

Just because this dog was raced at the first meeting of the Sporting Whippet club this year does not give it the right to race anywhere else if the organisers have any doubts about it's eligibilty. Our club is not the be all and end all of whippets and organisers should have the courage of their convictions if they have any doubts. It's similar to a situation that arose last year when a particular dog was, as per our club rules, required to do a clearance trial as it had fought at our meeting. Somehow another event organiser got this information and was going to ban the dog from running at their event. That is not how it works!

What I will say is that I too will look forward to Kirsty putting up the dogs breeding as that was one of the first questions I asked when introduced to the dog as a baby puppy last year!

and what story did she concoct that time? Martin tuckers enrie is the da,from the word on the street, the reason she cant put up the breeding is she will be caught out its a greyhound cross whippet and althought martin tucker cant get it in his head tat dat makes a lurcher, is is not a whippet.

Janet,

I was asked to make the final decision onthe three dogs. I felt that two were obviously whippets and this particular dog questionable. Kirsty was evasive about its breeding and I was about to rule against it when she claimed it had been accepted by the SWC and by you as a whippet. I obviously deferred to your knowledge of whippets. Had this not been mentioned I would have ruled against.

I now appreciate that you may have seen it as a PUPPY!

Now over to you Kirsty - let's hear who is the breeder AND what is the breeding?

Albert

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
