If a man was so insecure he could not see beyond his misconceptions i would have probably left whilst he was at the bar anyway Especially if he called me a bird

Ideation 8,217
Interesting one this. . . . i've never really met a woman who was into hunting off her own back, i.e it was 'her' thing. But i've had experiance of a number of different woman, who have ended up as hunters or at least tagging a long, due to the men they have choosen to spend their time / life with. My mum is the first example, neither of her parents hunted, and she had never done anything like it, but her grandfather was ferret / dog mad. When she started dating my father, he ended up meeting her grandfather, and a great friendship was started between the two men - old and young. My mum had to get used to her boyfriend disapearing with her grandfather and leaving her at home. Eventually her grandfather passed away, and my dad was left as a solo hunter once again, at this point really intio his ferrets and starting to get big into spaniels. Anyway, long story short, my mum decided that if she wanted to spend more time with her other half, it would have to be in the field, and so from then on, she was my dads right hand man, out with him all the time, ferreting, shooting, poaching, beating and helping look aftr the stock. She was out in the field with him and the dogs right up until a month before i was born, and back out as soon as i was able, with me strapped to her back, in a sling. Fast forward quite a few years, and i met my girlfriend, who had never hunted anything in her life, never seen a ferret close, didnt know what a lurcher was, and thought killing stuff was obviously a bit wierd. Within a couple of months of meeting me she was out doing it all, out ferreting, firing the shot gun, lamping, laying snares etc. She loves the dogs and ferrets and thats a big part of it, i dont think she would ever have got into shooting in the same way. But she is a quick learner, never complains and is quiet as a mouse, a couple of folk on here have been out with me when she has been there, and it's a funny sight, my cute, hippy looking girlfriend, with hair braids, and dreads, and bangles and beads, in a pair of wellies, in the pissing rain, covered in mud and blood, dragging a pile of dead rabbits She's even strted asking about getting a pup. I think we should be encouraging them!

Moll. 1,793
So you do see women who hunt as masculine then, presuming this as you listed it with other masculine activities. Usually men who cannot understand how a woman can possibly do something masculine are normally men who are insecure in themselves....Men who see nothing out of the ordinary or simply think of it as quirky are usually very comfortable in themselves. Why on earth do you think a woman would want to talk about killing or skinning things on a date Another misconception that we must be blood thirsty, ignorants with no etiquette or manners Bird, biatch, tart, chick.....you really cant see it can you

But i've had experiance of a number of different woman, who have ended up as hunters or at least tagging a long, due to the men they have choosen to spend their time / life with. I cannot put into words very easily why i hunt. I know why i started...because of the dogs. And that eventually led me into a totally different lifestyle to anything i had ever known prior, and i am the most content and happy i have ever been. I work damn hard at what i do (hunting and trapping) And yes i am thought of as peculiar by some people, the better people think it is brilliant. Never has been anything to do with men, for men or to impress men. Just like you men never started because of women. But because it is a male dominated activity most of my very good friends are now men. My best female friend thinks i am cruel, we just agree not to talk about it In reality i am no different to any man who hunts, i do it the same way and for the same reasons. The only thing different is i cannot carry as many rabbits as you lot can at once
