nothernlite 18,260
any half decent dog would take hare or fox when it was legal dont see why it has to be a speical any half decent lurcher to lurcher x will take then Quote Link to post

nothernlite 18,260
Who can say it wouldn't..every dog is diffrent, but really speaking dh x gh pretty much will do everything ,and not looking boring doing it I'm sure there are 22" lurchers that will and can. But realistically speaking? To say a 22" lurcher is the dog for the job? to say its not is worse how no ? Quote Link to post
gibbo1973 187
as your topic states versatile for hare or fox, most lurchers with speed stamina and most of all grit and determinaion with the right entering with do both maybe not 3 out of 3 but hey ho no one has a world beater wheather it be a beddy x , bull x, dhx ,sal x they will all do it entered an bred right its a different if you say the ultimate hare and fox dog ? 1 Quote Link to post

To say a 22" lurcher is the dog for the job? its says versatile not dog for a job ..like a bull x,you'd get one for fox etc but you wouldn't expect it to be as good as something like a greyhound for hares..I too personally wouldn't ick a dog of that size for something that bites back..Atb Quote Link to post
SMART DOG 340
any lurcher should be able to do the job Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Northernlite. Smartdog. You lads are missing the point. "any lurcher should do it." Yes of course the should. But he is talking about A DOG FOR THE JOB!!! A 22" beddy based lurcher is not the job for regular hare taking. They might do them now and then as for fox. But regular? Behave. Surely he's looking for a racey bull cross with some saluki blood? No I'm not a coursing man nor run bull crosses but when someone asks for a dog to regularly take fox and hare and lads respond with "any lurcher" it's nonsense. My mates got a 23" sal/whip/grey with the speed and stamina for hares and the tenacity for fox but her size made her struggle Pre-Ban. Her put to a sal/bull/grey could be phenomenal. But also be shit. Lol. Gaz Quote Link to post
