tyson666 11 Posted February 10, 2012 Report Share Posted February 10, 2012 as said by johnny boy only the day befour this dog was saved from a lake and 24 hours later put in a unfamiliar situation without knowing how it would react and whatever the circumstances the dog is a liability! in a ideal world no dogs should bite anyone! but we dont live in a ideal world so thats why we are taught respect for animals and to give them their space because there are donkeys out there that dont care how their dog reacts around people. even my three year old son who has been around our rottweiler and a bullx since he was born which are both 100% with people and can do what he wants with still has the sense to ask me "ok daddy" befour he goes near a strange dog regardless of its size or how its reacting towards him. atb tyson 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I'm starting to think that maybe schools need to teach kids about the dangers of approaching dogs they don't know, there are so many people who haven't a clue out there and they can't teach their kids either. We've got a neighbour (who is very nice but hasn't a clue about dogs) when they come to my house they would stand frozen to the spot in the door way to the room where my dog's bed is. The girl would scream and make a fuss and even the mum was a bit like that. I had to explain that they are sending very bad signals to the dog, especially by staring at him. You could see my Labs reaction to them as he knew something wasn't right and it made him nervous. Obviously I kept him well away from them as they didn't know how to act around a dog. steve123 29 Posted February 10, 2012 Report Share Posted February 10, 2012 the dog was poorly handled and put in a situation it didnt know what to do with ,lots of mistakes here but the presenter paid the price for her stupidity, and ultimately the dog needs a professional handler or to be put down, he has no respect for strangers and will do it again under stressful circumstances as would quite a few dogs. these dogs are not toys and the handlers should have known better than to put a dog through that situation , it may never have been in a public area like that in its life. the dogo can be a loyal pet if socialised and handled properly but you cant allow for the publics stupidity around animals. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
gnasher16 29,834 Posted February 10, 2012 Report Share Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) Cracks me up the way some folk are defending this like its not really the dogs fault !......Shame these excuses never got made for pit bulls !.......To say " its not the dogs fault because the woman put her face near the dogs face "....is absolutely ridiculous..........................ok so your waiting for your kids to come out the sweet shop and a littlun ( or adult for that matter ) comes up and gets their face close to the dog as happens day in day out......dog takes a chunk of cheek and hey ho " sorry chum its your own fault for getting too near my bad ass dog "............................turn it in for f**k sake ! Why folk need to over complicate things like this with all the leader of the pack nonsense is beyond me..............the only slight excuse id give that dog is possibly the unfamiliar surroundings it was in.....but even then,a well adjusted confident and sensible dog will cope in near any situation without feeling the need to lash out........i dont see any reason to give dogs an excuse because i accept theres good and bad specimens born of any species this " theres no bad dogs just bad owners " thing is possibly the most ridiculous statement a dog fancier could ever make in my opinion. I put one down (90lb American bulldog) for getting to the point that I knew she was a danger to people so I done the right thing...never even gave her the chance to bite! That dog needs a bullet, as does any dog that lashes out at a strangers face for no real reason. And the arsehole with it needs a f****n boot as well. Amazing how people will defend this type of dog, cause they want one,, they are of no use unless being worked in there required capacity, they are not pets, Same eejits that would shout for a collie to be pts for biting a child, there is no difference here !! that woman was bitten, for nothing!! blan89 159 Posted February 10, 2012 Report Share Posted February 10, 2012 The thing is about a dog like that, it's alright saying noone should be sticking there face to it like that but you never know what's going to happen when you're out and about. I was taking my mastiff out of the car once on a car park (he was on a lead) and a women was getting out of her car with her son who was about 3 or 4 maybe, the son pulled her hand towards us saying he wants to stroke the dog and the silly bint just let go of his hand without asking me if the dog was nasty....the kid dived on my dog hugging him round the neck face to face. Luckily my dog was placid and loved kids but I gave the women a right bollocking.....who the f'ck lets a kid run at a strange dog, especially one of that size! My point is, if I had this dogo with me on that day it would have been a very nasty scene!!!! Walking round with a dog that's liable to snap is fine as long as everyone around you has common sense, unfortunately 95% of people don't have common sense so it's a matter of time before it all goes horribly wrong! personal responsibility answers any argument you can make,I can own an aggressive dog and take all reasonable precautions to stop it ever hurting anyone. If some adult retard tries to kiss it or hug it without permission they get what they deserve,and before you say if a kid ran over to any of my (friendly) dogs,they'd not get close enough for anything to happen. if you can't stop a child getting near your dog,sell it and get a hamster. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
