tia.kins 56
Most lurchers can learn the night time trade. They don't have to find their quarry, your lamp and hunters eye does that for them..... Make them work and hunt daytime and it exposes a dog to a much wider range of skill sets that not all dogs posses...... or are not allowed to develop If you believe a dog learning to hunt up day time makes a lamping dog hunt on, then you need to have a think about how good your recall is......simple as that And experienced dog will learn the differnce between day and night work, but they will need exposure until they understand the difference 3 Quote Link to post
Guest long-tail
in my eyes i think lamping can ruin a daytime dog. what is your opinion lads ? iv found in the past some mine that only ever lamped were shit daytime dogs purely for the fact they never seemed to go it alone and hunt up they would constantly walk by my side, different if they see something ahead i just mean generaly.now as long as recall spot on iv found there nothing better than getting out day time watching them hunting up although iv had to use a terrier to get them started at times but once they on it its all good from there and have not had any probs when back out lamping, making of an all round better dog if you ask me,jmo obviously but cant really see your point cheers Edited January 6, 2012 by long-tail 1 Quote Link to post
Mick C. 229
Shouldnt be a problem alurcher will soon learn what is required of it day or night. Started mine daytime first, ferreting, At night i was sending them off on the lamp to retreive tennis balls.before i put them on live rabbits. As said recall has to be good Quote Link to post
KittleRox 2,147
Usualy folk seem to think if a dog hunts up during the day it will have a tendencie to do the same oot lamping, which is pxsh, if the dog is used to all environment from a young age they soon figure out when to put the heid up or down ps a lamping dog hunting up at night can be used to advantage Quote Link to post
