hand rearing 2 day old pups.........ADVICE PLEASE

My bull BITCH gave birth to 7 PUPS on new years day. In labour 20 hours, 2 PUPS were still born despite vigorous rubbing to revieve etc. She refused to feed remaining 5 PUPS and dumped the runt...so im left hand rearing 5 PUPS... 3 PUPS are very keen on a slow flow baby bottle but the other 2 only have a couple of sucks then spit it owt.. My vet advised full fat goats milk rather than lactol or whelpie im currently. Adding a drop of natural pro-biotic yoghurt... Any advice on anything else to feed or to get the 2 weak PUPS to suck, I was advised against lactol etc due to high constipation risk etc

keep trying with the bitch mate,they need her antibodies,seen a litter hand reared and had not suckled the dam.empty shells the lot of them...do your best pal

can ya not express milk from dam wi a breast pump so antyibodies get passed on, best of luck pal gonna be hard work, mabe get onto youir vet if your out ya depth, fingers crossed for ya

BITCH picks em up and tries to dump em , me and the misses have rotated shifts so far PUPS fed off BITCH the first 12 hours just say then she lost interest kept sitting on them or moving them or mocking them off her nipple

Good luck..it's bloody hard work, but very rewarding. It's often the Bull bitches that reject pups.

As someone else said, don't be afraid to pester your vet if you feel out of your depth.

And don't forget to rub their backends with kitchen roll. They won't pee and poo properly otherwise. The mum would usually lick them to make em pee etc and clean it up at the same time but as she's not, you'll have too.

Circlular motions with a a folded piece of kitchen roll around the bum and bits. Shouldn't take long and they'll empty out.

right mate i breed bullys i sometimes you have two step in your not gona get better milk then ya bitches the first bit is the best got all the anti bods in it what you need two do is muzle the bitch just incase and hold her down put your leg over her and get your pups on the tits two they suck then just stay there for 20 mins two there bellys are full then take the bitch away get them under a heat lamp not two close of hot water bottle and bring her back in every 2 two 3 hours and repeat make sure you wipe there bum up and down 2 there they poo and wee they cant do it on the own the bitch should come two in a week or so this is the best way of keepin all of them alive hoope it helps

Try getting the bitch to lie in the whelping bed, put the pups on her whilst telling her to stay and hand feed her slowly to give the pups a chance to feed whilst she is still and occupied, friend did this with her bitch and managed to get her to feed them for 4 weeks even though the bitch would snarl at them and jump out soon as the food stopped coming

 

As said, you need to toilet the pups, use kitchen towel and dip it in luke warm water to mimic moms wet tongue.
