I'm afraid to say, I am not.   Wife keeps asking me if I'm feeling christmassy. Feeling pressured to give a positive response.   Well, my kids are 16 and 11 so instead of a letter to Santa its a l

I fecking hate it with real passion, nothing but a guilt trip on the whole.Hate the fact you have to give gifts or else your looked upon as being a c*nt,if i want to give a gift i will and don't need n

its only what you make it.put a wee bit effort towards it,you might be pleasantly suprised.I wish everyone on THL a very merry xmas, even the tims.

My three kids are 6 and 7 years old. In my situation, it's a lot of pressure. All my family are back home and the ex and his family have naff all to do with the kids. I'd love to spoil them but I just can't. They've got a few decent pressies, and some 'family' presents - board games and such. And that will have to do. Between tidying up the unwrapping carnage, building things, installing batteries, making breakfast, washing up .... I don't enjoy it any more. It's not right nice being the only grown up in the house on Christmas day :(

I'll put on a santa hat and a smile and wade through the day, but the truth is I just want it to be over.

Haha honest Stig ... I can't cope with the clutter and mess. I HAVE to wash up and get the rubbish all tidied away or I freak out  I'm not making a big meal on the day, just party food etc. Got a lovely free range pork shoulder to slow roast on boxing day when things are calmer :D

You're right there SH. They get it; they've been brought up so far to understand that Christmas isn't about an XBox. They'll be chuffed with the Cranium Jr game we'll play in the afternoon. And we've got a new wii game to play as well even tho current standings have me as the Mario Kart champion lol. We have a good bit of fun together (when they're not driving me round the bend )

You don't just have to spoil kids with material things, and you clearly make up for it in other far more important (in my opinion) ways.

And you don't have to be a grown up. Being 'one of the kids' can be real fun, and believe me the memories you'll keep until well after they've left home will be some of the best

I'm not a fan of xmas for a few reasons but I always put in the effort for the kids, my kids never expect crazy presents that they won't have they think Mcdonalds is a farm :D they just enjoy it, they'll get one surprise each which for the little ones is a nintendo ds each, the older one is having money. Most of my family and the other halves live in the same street as us so its a full day taking the kids around grand-parents, aunties and uncles then pack the kids off to bed and me and the missus will drink our crimbo bottle.

Nadolig Llawen i un a phob !!
