Dog's.. Who'd have em?

Recommended Posts

I tend to agree with Cocker and a few of the others. It sounds like you've sickened him. You said at the start, he'd just come back from injury, and you've never worked him so hard. Maybe you should have brought him back a bit slower and easier, he may have an injury caused by running him when not fit, that you haven't spotted ? Hope all works out well for him.

Cheers.

in one breath you say he has been laid off for 5 weeks, after sustaining an injury, and then you mention he isn't at his fittest, then in the next breath you admit he has been ran the hardest he has e

like northeast finest said somthink sickened him ,only you will know the anwser 2 that ,could be 2 much 2 early after he injury or he hasn,t getting over he injury what was he injury ?

Not taking squatters is far from jacking......some dogs never get the hang of squatters.

ok the fact that he has been lied down on his bed all day and not moved, should give you some indication, that something is not right, with the dog, its probably nothing to do with him not spotting a squatter, (on 4 occasions) especially if he was, really as keen as you say, in the first place,

Did it seem to you that he was pulling up or did he not even see the squatters. If your slipping him over gates ect maybe hes not 100% focused on looking down the beam for squatters after hes jumping over stuff. Just a thought

thats exactly what its like mate.. looks through the gate whilst lamp on.. spots the bunny pulls and looks to jump over, then slip, gets over jogs down the beam then just stops still, if it moves then chase on, if it sits he just looks around the field then comes back to me.. never done it before so havent a clue whats happening. went out lastnight with tommy my 3 year old beddy/whip x grey and after 2-3 runs he started running half way down the beam to a sitter then just making a u-turn as if he aint seen it and coming back to me... he's never done this before and it's really pissing me off as this dog has the heart of a lion and would literally kill himself for a bunny, as soon as it moves, he runs it like a trooper or slipped in with another dog he'll run the full beam and put the game up.. he was kept off for 5 weeks with a injury and obviously gained weight.. so i have to admit he aint the fittest at the moment, over the last 9 days its the most graft he ever seen with me, but not to strenious just trying to lose some weight off him and fitting him up.. I'm trying to think positive because i dont want to think my dogs jacked, but it could be a lot of things.. anyone had this before? if so what was the outcome.. gunna give him a rest and try him in a few days.. any advice, personal experience would be grealty apprecieated.. Before taking the dog out hunting, especially after an injury, you should have slowly built its fitness levels up and got rid of the excess weight, any problems after that will be down to the owner.
