skycat 6,174
I'm sorry you have a problem with me C: I don't know why. Did I disrespect you some time? I don't think so. The people who tell you that I planned the litter are lying. Why would I have said otherwise? If you look back to where I announced the litter, I said at the time that only in a moment of madness would I have dreamed of crossing Airedale with Saluki/Grey when both are hard dogs to control in the field: Airedale drive crossed with the sire's bloody minded independence and 'sod you' attitude. I don't tell lies about anything........... least of all my dogs. I learned very early in life that liars are only lying to themselves if they feel the need to tell porkies about anything, besides which, liars are usually found out in the end. I don't need to 'big up' my dogs, they are what they are. I'm like anyone who has been in the game for years: I've had crap dogs, average dogs and a few really good ones. I guess that most writers are looked on with suspicion, because sadly, there have been, and probably still are, field sports writers who do tell lies to make themselves more important or better than they really are. And more and more, nowadays, people are actually trying to look for a weak spot, the negative in other people, trying to find some dirt so they can discredit someone they either don't like or are jealous of. And people like to make up stuff about other people: I guess it is just human nature. I could be like most writers in this game, and stay well clear of the forums, but I actually like the hunting forums, they're a great place to swap knowledge, ideas, and simply see what other people are doing with their dogs. I like learning new stuff about any sort of hunting, and I've often come across really good training ideas on here too. I guess I'll just have to put up with the occasional slagging off, :tongue2:  If I hadn't come on the forums I wouldn't have my Redline Airedale, and for that I shall be ever grateful! 1 Quote Link to post
toby1066 413
will they vanish into obscurity with her gsd cross, picardy cross, border t cross, lab cross etc? its only a matter of time before she gets a blackwater cos when you know you know Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
I've only just seen foresterj's post: how tragic is that Firstly, the GSD cross went to a home where she would be an only dog and not sad at the bottom of my horrible pack, the Picardy crosses aren't mine, they are my partners, and he still has them. The Border'Whippet is a much valued ferreting dog who I wouldn't be without. And what the hell is a blackwater? Quote Link to post
chartpolski 27,356
I have absolutly nothing against you; what I say is what I feel, and when you first talked about this litter, (on another forum), I made it plain that I didn;t like the joking way you talked about an unplanned litter ! I thought you had more sense than to have an unplanned litter, but mistakes happen, but why you made light of it was beyond me ! I'll repeat what I said earlier.... people look up to you and respect your views,me included, when it refers to dogs health and wellbeing, but c'mon, show a bit common sense and say that unplanned litters are EXACTLY that... UNPLANNED ! As I said when this first happened, if a young lads Bull x had been caught by his Terrier, and he'd talked about it on a hunting site; he'd have been ripped to pieces !! But because it's you, people are quoting your litter when they are asking about this type of mating ! As I said before, you have a reputation, people, especialy young'uns just starting the game, look up to you So be straight with them ! Cheers. 2 Quote Link to post

trigger2 3,285
ive never had anything to do with pure airedale's but have worked the first cross airedale/greyhond. the only thing i could really say for her was she had a good nose and that's about it, but ive only seen and worked one. edited to say it was a greyhound dog over a airedale bitch. How many times do I have to say this?: this litter was accidental, unplanned, however you want to put it. I've said it all along, I've said it already on this thread, how many more times do you want me to say it? Oh and by the way, I joked about it at the time of announcing it because I was so embarrassed that it had happened to me, after so many years keeping dogs and in season bitches apart. In case you didn't know, people often make light of things that they are embarrassed about: human nature again. Now I'm off out lamping with my ACCIDENTLY BORN AIREDALE LURCHER. Quote Link to post

chartpolski 27,356
Why on earth would anyone ANNOUNCE something they were embarrased about ? OK, as I've said, I've got nothing against you, and I don't want this to turn into some sort of personal hatred. I respect what you do in the dog world, we disagree on the way you handled the unplanned mating, but they are your dogs, not mine; so best of luck with what you do in the future, last word on the subject from me. If you don't know what that means....Google it ! i know well what it means, but your sarcastic remarks didn't make sense or have any relevence to the question asked. why not try answering questions with a genuine response from time to time. to answer the original question, i've seen 1 airedale that was interested in hunting, the owner has 5 airedales, and few lurchers. dogs all had the chance to show their minerals, but only 1 bitch showed interest. and at that it was only interested in thinks that didnt bite. also have to say, they are quite expensive, around £400+ Fair enough mate, but what annoys me is when a well known and respected Lurcher owner, breeder, writer has an ACCIDENTAL MATING, the result is idiots thinking this will be a good cross !! Penny should come on and tell everyone this wasn't a planned mating ! I wish her and the pups the very best, but I think if she wanted to keep the litter, she should have waited until they did, or didn't do the job, before talking about them ! There are to many people who will try this cross simply because Skycat has them; and may well end up being dissapointed ! Cheers. I'm glad this world isn't full of people like you, you belong in the stone age where everything is basic and there is nothing new. how would anything evolve with your view. thomas Edison said he found 2000 wrong ways to make a light bulb. we need many more people like him. so so what if she tried something new. Every topic where people mention a rare x you kick up a smoke, what were you like those years ago when the bull x came around or the saluki x I can just picture it now lol and look at those crosses now. very commonly used. Everything has to start somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 Quote Link to post
