I finished 6th year at school, hated every minute of it, but still got a few highers. Enough to get to uni at least. Done an honours degree in sustainable environmental management but left in the third year because I was offered this job. Thank feck I did because I would have been coming out last october and would probably be a regular viewer of the jeremy kyle show by now. Got on a YOPS scheme (Just) for an Electrician and now work on the power lines for our local Electricity board and can't see myself doing anything else work wise. Done a 2 year car bodywork repair course, then a 12 week national skills development scheme a few years later, which was basically a condensed 2 year course covering various aspects of site work. (refineries) Was due to start college to sit my A levels at 24 but had to leave them again because I knocked the wife up.. Went into the building trade and learnt to plaster and do a few bits of general building. Knees gave out about 3 years ago and I am currently a stay at home dad while my wife works.. is plastering hard on your knees? my old fella's a plasterer and he's always had problems with his knees too,but i just assumed its because he's so fat. It is hard on your knees Blan, especially when you're up and down ladders/stepladders/hop ups/etc all day. If it was a matter of plastering & rendering bungalows non stop I would have been OK! The main problem was that I had both lateral cartilages removed from my knees as a teen. I've now got osteoarthritis in both knees as a result of the ops and my trade. I've been a goat herd, a potter, worked in pet food industry (now you know why I feed raw!) animal rescue, (but had to leave when they found out that I was also hunting the cute furry animals they rescued :laugh: ), and pest control. Hardly went to any lectures in my third year but sunrise to sunset revision/cramming for about a month come exam time had the desired effect. Born Hunter 17,951 Posted September 8, 2011 Report Share Posted September 8, 2011 Gcses/Alevels, a degree in Anthropology, a masters in Social and Cultural Anthropology, a teaching qualification, various other diplomas and shit, o and i'm a trained life guard haha. It's funny because i never really showed my face much at any of the above, just got my head down when i needed to. I'm going to do another M.A next year, probably in Social Work, and i'm kind of working on a PHD by publication (publishing journals / papers etc). Anthropolgy would have been an interesting subject to study. Doesnt at all surprise me that you did it from what I have gathered about you on here, travelling etc. Theology is another one that interests me, not because I'm at all religious but just find it fascinating from a cultural point of view.
