Simoman 110
About 10 years ago had a terrier bitch and one of my shepherds run a fox to ground on a Friday night in a huge bramble covered earth, spent the saturday and sunday sinking holes and waiting overnight but nothing, went home on the monday morning, put some posters up locally and in the afternoon a couple found her on the lane next top the earth, tired, hungry and a little sore but otherwise fine............ mudd dog 128
We had a dog a few years ago dropped into a very big place never got a mark on him. After two days we could still hear him working away very deep in the ground, though still no mark on old deben box. We decided to collar up a wee bitch with new batteries hoping she would locate the dog. She went in and after another day we were lucky to get a mark on her at 14 ft. So hoping she was with the other dog and his collar batteries had died we dug to the bitch. Very hard ground in the early hours we broke threw to the bitch but the other dog was no were to be seen. Tried the box down in the dig for the other dog still no mark. We left coats at the entrances and kept returning day and night for days after. The dog never returned. He was a real grafter and we finally realised he had obviously got himself in so far and had been working away so long he would have just died down there. He was a real good dog and had never failed us so we knew he wouldn't have turned back away from his game. Which he didnt. Poor old fella really did stay to the death. Local fishermen and farmers were tipped of to keep an eye out but he never showed. That was the last I was ever entered a dog in that particular spot to say the least. Pity thing was if bellmans would have been about at the time we would have been able to rescue him.... Quote Link to post

Did you not try and dig the dog out on xmas day,why wait until boxing day, have you not 2 hands of your own,if you are not fit to dig it you should not have put the dog to ground in the 1st place, not having a go,jmho. 4 Quote Link to post
