You are right riohog hunting with sighthounds/birds of prey and bow hunting are banned but the amount of things you can hunt is unbelievable

k9delboy 138
I have been over aboout 8 or 9 times and love Sweden and Norway. Fishing is brilliant. I have hunted roe with wire haired dachhounds and I have hunted hare with hamilton stovas but the dogs can only hunt for about 5 months in the winter im sure. You cannot hunt with a dog that is capable of catching its quarry above ground as far as i know. You cannot use a lamp either, so no lurchers. Fox and pigs are legal to hunt just now but i believe that in 2016 the laws change regarding working fox in a trap. You will love it over there and yes, a lot of the ladies are stunning. Look up the JRTC Sweden and talk to some of them or get someone to vouch for you as a lot of them hunt. Most of the Swedes talk good English so shouldnt be a problem, Del. chartpolski 28,229
I've been over there a couple of times, mainland and the island of Urland in the Baltic. They love their hunting, shooting and fishing, and don't have the anti's and stupid government restrictions we have. But beware, its VERY expensive, and beer and spirits cost a fortune !! A lot of Swedes get a ferry over to Finland on a "booze cruise" for a cheap drink !! Hope you have a great time !! Cheers.

bullmastiff 615
well finally got the nod and defo going over to see my mate who lives there very soon!!! staffsriffraff is coming with me to start with as we got two weeks work there but im hopefully staying longer than that and tbh if its half as good as my mate tells me i doubt ill ever come back!!! has anyone off here ever been over there???? done much with the dogs over there??? i no RFYL has said the pike fishing is top class, anyone else agree??? its fair to say the hunting laws are slightly more relaxed than here  i cant wait to get there sounds an amazing place  have you sorted out the dog passports or are you just going to get dogs while you're out there? were not taking them when we first go but yes looked into and if i stay for a long time wil defo be taking my dogs over I've just got mine a passport. Cost £150 for the rabies jabs, blood tests and passports. They have a blood test 2 weeks after the rabies jab then result come about 10 days later, and then they can go overseas. They can't come back into this country though until 6 months after the blood test. Oh and they need to be microchipped.....just info for when you're getting yours ready to go out So do they have to be out of the country for 6 months or can you get the jab 6 months before you go? No you don't have to take them out of the country, it's just that if you did go out of the country you wouldn't be able to bring it back in until 6 months after it's been immunised. Mine's just been done so I could take her out now if I wanted to, but she wouldn't be able to come back til end of Nov. You also have to get your dog wormed/de-flea'd before you come back into the country (even if you did it just before you left). Only certain Vets are cleared to sign off the relevent paperwork for this so depending where you go, it can get expensive. They'll do it for you at the port if you want but thats a load of money apparently? Unfortunately, there's a bit more to it than just getting the dog a passport then jumping on a ferry like you would a chiold etc.

Unfortunately, there's a bit more to it than just getting the dog a passport then jumping on a ferry like you would a chiold etc. must be wormed and frontlined minimum of clear 24 hrs before ,leaving for the uk . if its done at a port still must wait 24 hrs before embarcation .passport must be sighned by a vet .it isnt expensive , but the time factore is critical /less than 24hrs you will not be alowed to board also if a rabbies booster is even 1 day out of date the passport is invalid and has to go through the full proceadure again taking at least 6 months .providing a posative teta /imune test is above the requred limit, strange but true there is ..no requirement for a parvo jab on issue of a passport only rabbies clearence .
