Attack Fell Terrier 864
...but i fail to see what is better in todays times that outweigh yesterdays.Thats not bitter and miserable thats just being honest. But i guess it depends on the individual. People are living longer, generally have a better standard of life, there's more awareness and advancements today when it comes to serious illnesses, no kid has to suffer from the sort of poverty people faced back then in this country. People are travelling more and seeing more of the worlds wonders, people have a better chance of furthering their education, and that's off the top of my head. Of course things could be much better, and there are ridiculous laws made that get in the way, parts of our country have become havens for communities of people that don't belong here, but it's not all bad, not IMO anyway. That they are all destined to be stabbed and have a string of failed marriages and will have kids before the age 16 scattered all over the place? I know people that have been stabbed and a lad that has been shot, but I also know a couple of young people that have beaten cancer because of today's advancements, what they more than likely would of died from 30 - 40 years ago. No but the likelyhood of it happening is greater....and nobody is denying the strides made in medicine science etc....killings and stabbings are so common now that they barely merit a mention in the paper...when I was a kid the baddies went to jail not given a social worker and told its not their fault...the lines between good and bad are so blurred now its hard to tell who the good guys are...relationships are no longer worked at the first sign of trouble and the parents bale out and move on. Unemployment is a generational thing in a lot of families now as there's no incentive to work. Look at the Education system how many young people leave school barely able to read and write (you only need to look at some of the posts in here for proof of that )..whether you chose to ignore the fact or not we live in a fractured society and things will be a lot worse before they get better and there will probably a cure for cancer before they can cure whats wrong with this country. Anyway rant over I'm off to slide down a coal bing on my bread board have a nice day Edited May 1, 2011 by undisputed

Cant argue with the plus points.....but do they outweigh the negatives,im not so sure..... Communities have broken down, personal relationships no longer have the same value,as a nation we have lost our identity and discipline, youngsters have different values etc etc..... I guess its a pint glass half full or half empty situation.....personally i like the simple things in life hence i prefer the less complicated times of years ago....but theres no denying some things have improved

Anyway rant over I'm off to slide down a coal bing on my bread board have a nice day The likely hood of being stabbed is higher in some areas but it still doesn't mean to say there's a real probability that it will happen to the average kid. I know plenty of "baddies" that have gone to jail and are in jail, and wont be getting out for a very long time, so despite of what you think they still do go to jail mate. With DNA and all the CCTV a lot more people are going to jail for the bad things they do, that's why the jails are rammed to the hilt. You say all these negative things about today's generation like there were no bad times in the past. Sure a lot of families split up now, but back in the day there were women and men in relationships that suffered a life time of drunken abuse and misery and all because they were supposed to stay together. As it goes I've been with my missus since I was 16 years old, like every other relationship we've had our ups and downs but we do put the effort into our relationship to make it work, like many others from my generation that I know. As far as education goes a lot of older lads that I know would say so long as you had a basic level of reading, and you could count money that was good enough and many of them left school before they were supposed too, because they were only going to end up working on some ones roof, labouring on some building site or working in some factory somewhere anyway. Now a days, if a kid from a council estate is bright enough, and works hard enough there's no reason that he can't become scientist or doctor or some other sort of professional. The common people don't have to just except their place any more. I'm not by anyway trying to say today is perfect, it's far from perfect, but it could be a lot worse. IMO anyway. I read your last post with great interest and from this post and previous ones it would that both you and many others feel the same but there are just a few points that i feel as an oldie i that are relevant i agree that you have more chance of getting caught now with both D.N.A testing and C.C.T.V if you stab some one in a CCTV area but when i was brought up you put some one away with your fists or at a push put the head on them all over man on his arse the better man walked away now the norm appears to be come on gang lets use his head like a football kick him/her stamp on his/her head and then we will post it on youtube or let's attack them disabled and them O.A.Ps that should be good for a laff we wont get hurt and we can film it to show how hard we are when i was a youth if any one even suspected you had done this you would have had the living crap beaten out of you by your ex mates your parents the local plod it would not be called happy slapping it would be assault and after your hammering you would be sent to borstal where you would have another hammering we all carried knifes a lot more than to days youth but it would never cross your mind to use it on another person that would be gutless and cowardly if you made a girl pregnant you were expected to do the right thing and marry the girl and support both her and your child facing up to your responsibility's i accept this did not always work out but it seemed to do a lot of the time it also made you think a bit more before you dipped your wick your also right about alcohol abuse within the the home of married couples and abuse some times violent however as now they had the same rights to walk away its feelings for each other that holds a marriage together another the kids of alcoholics are not born alcohol dependant not like a lot of kids today that are born drug dependant are as for kids leaving school early without A-B-C or D levels or diplomas in art and design or an ollgy in PS2/Xbox i think you will find they have as much chance of obtaining a job in Mcdonalds and tesco as the rest of them and your right life could be worse but i assure you it has been better mike
