Hi every one 02-04-2011

Saturday I had a garden plink and zero before I pack it all away and go back to York to work, and will be taking everything with me to hopefully meet up with Andy, Simon. For a trip up to there permission as I am working near them “it would be rude not too!”

Every thing was going well with the AA as usual excellent bit of kit, if you know how to treat it! Then I had a play with the HW100T .177 it was going good then I was getting clover leaf groups @ 20yds, this isn’t right!

So I cleaned the barrel, as I was cleaning it with a brush kit. I pulled it out then gave it a once over with the pull through kit I have. And out popped an O ring oopps!! That’s not supposed to happen? It didn’t with my last HW100 I had. so luckily after putting a post up on W.O.C I managed to contact my Geordie buddies festa & marksman who also have HW100 first thing they said was “your not suppose to clean em wit a brush like!” and after a bit of banter and slagging abuse they explain what I had done. Lol

So I set about fixing it which was pretty easy “given I have the patience of a saint” so it was all put back together and zeroed but not who I like it, so I left it @ home!

By this time it was about 6:30 ish so I got my kit together and set off over to the business park for a look around, as I passed the property on the A420 I could see a bunny by the bill boards. So that was my first inspection, after I spoke to the security guard!

A slow drive down to where I see it, but could only make out its ears! I thought I will come back here later! And headed of to the top of the property. I got my self set up with AAS410K .177 dressed with a MTC Mamba 4-16x50 using AA field 8.4gr

And had a drive around the usual hot spots! It wasn’t long before I had spotted 2 jackdaws in a sitty tree just waiting to be culled, but I could not position the car at the right angle to cull them, to many branches! So I just cruised around and then spotted a wood pigeon about 45 yds, so a slow crawl in the Honda civic to 35yds on zero! Parked up all slow movements to raise the AAS410K cross hairs locked on exhale THWACK!

Fell like a stone! It’s a bit graphic this pic “so be warned!!”

Here is where it fell!

GRAPHIC!! But cracking shot! Lol

After this I went down to the balancing pond, at the far end of the B/park. Had a look around by the sub box nothing! But a lot of pruning and excavation work! So I went left and headed for the raised bank going up it like a ballerina on tip toes lol, a lot of dead twigs and leaves1 good job I had my off road crocks on, nice a light and easy to move around in stealth mode lol as I was carefully looking at the ground each step and clearing very gently also looking up each taken step, I must of got to the top in about 15 minutes that’s how careful I was, as this bank is only about 7” high and about 5yds up.

After reaching the peak lol I had a good look around but could see nothing, and then I had to break cover to get to the fence where there is more cover, but as always very slowly! Just in case. I stood by the fence for a few minutes just to compose my self before heading south to the balancing pond via the fence/hedge row. As I turned and took a few slow steps forward I could just make out a pair of ears! So heading towards it again even slower with the AAS410K shouldered, I managed to get a good look at its head a kit it was, I estimated it was about 15/18yds so cross hairs on its stop button, nice steady breathing exhale THWACK!! Up and down it went nerves twitching like a good one. And just around the corner as I done the follow through, there was another hunter out this evening I stayed still and watched the feral cat come stalking over to take my quarry. So a small hiss with my lips and it was off, but I did watch it for a while “brilliant”

After this I went back up to the top of the property, and drove round to my favourite sniping spot on the estate, where now they have put a road in! Earlier in the evening I see 4 bunnies here, so drove around and parked up in wait. With the scope cam! I think I waited about an hour a half before my next target presented its self to my cross hairs.

I was watching every 15 minutes with my night vision monocular which I got from Aldi, nice bit of kit for the money! So very slowly again I turned on my scopecam and adjusted focus and zoom, flicked on the massive IR (which is a clulite) I took a reference point of the tree line and panned for the same point then down to the ground. There it was just sat there doing nothing; press record! cross hairs locked on steady with the camera squeeze the trigger first stage! Then THWACK!!! Up and down, nerves kicking a bit then nothing. As I got out fetching the bunny, I knock my arm against my scope and my adaptor broke on the handycam (don’t worry Si, cam is fine!)

Here is the footage, its not the best!

I then waited another half hour, but nothing showed so I headed of to the bill boards where I see the ears earlier! No need for a lamp as the park lights keep these bill boards light up very well. As I approached very slowly I see 2 kits out one @ 34yds the other 37yds .I brought the AAS410K to the window and gently rested it on the wing mirror, I took aim THWACK!!!! Its mates head came up to see what all the fuss was about THWACKED!!! it as well both bunnies were out of action in seconds

Here is where they fell

34yd kit

37yd kit, this was a spine shot as it moved.

I then went back up to the top of the B/park where chaz & I also have a horse paddock, which is adjacent to it. A quick scan around with the NV monocular, there was one out in the whole paddock, so quickly but quietly I went back and got my Tiablo lamp on. Straight back, the park has under gone a major pruning session .so I rested against a nicely pruned tree, perfect for a standing shot! I flicked the Tiablo on no movement this time eye to scope flick, it moved .i just about make it out from the park lights and followed it flick again it ran, straight for the hedge row! So I thought its not getting away from me this time. As the lights lit up part of the paddock I could see it’s out line, got my self steady on the tree stump had my cross hairs 1 mil dot hold over on target, squeeze the trigger first stage gently squeeze my left thumb on the pressure pad. Light on THWACK!! Exactly how it happened, it then just slumped forward

On my way to retrieve it I counted the pace, and it was 48yds so I was chuffed with that!!

Now back down to the sub box, to see if there is any out on the green! As I was positioning the civic to get parked up I spotted a bunny in my wing mirror, so a three point turn was in order. It could not have been 17/20yds so I knew it was on the cross hairs up came the AAS410 locked on loaded balanced THWACK!! Well let me tell you, it was an Olympic jumper! And good bleeder! Dam my adaptor breaking DOH!!!
