everytime i consider getting a divorce i start to dwell on this idea, me and the dogs travelling around europe catching our own food etc.... then reality kicks in, ie; money matters, theres some necessitys that you have to have money in your pocket for :(

If i'd have had two pennies to rub together after my divorce i'd of done it then definately, i guess it all depends on what you can do without, whether you have a house to rent to cover your mortgage etc etc....

Ali, your right, one of the reasons i love Lincolnshire is because the way of life seems slower....

im sure someone will correct me if im wrong, but my aunt lived in sleaford.which is in lincolnshire i think?absouletely great place and had many a good holiday in the summer there.my cousin and uncles were in the raf in fact think most people that lived there were connected to the raf.always said one day id like to move there, was what i always imagined a nice english village to be like.

Some beautifull English villages that way, places like Gelston and Caythorpe area. Small traditional villages built from locally quarried stone.

Get yourself a camper van and come down to Pembrokeshire. The way of life is that slow down here, it would appear to go backwards!:laugh::thumbs:

Ive got everything I need at present. Got my own home up North, Parents in Central Scotland (with all my permission etc round about), brother in Northumberland and keeper pals dotted all over.

Spent every weekend since September away from home digging, shooting and running dogs all over.

Funnily enough, my mother in law always complains about the lack of pavements round here when she visits from Aberdeen!:D

"Pembrokeshire Promises" are a well known institution about the county. An example is when a tradesman promises to start a job on the following Tuesday, and turns up three weeks later.. It drives non local people mental when they move in round here, but they soon get used to it! :D If we were any further laid back here, we'd be lying down! :D:thumbs:

Lived a similar kind of life for a time, its great, it really is, until you get ill, or break your arm, or something. Then it's just f*****g tough. Or when you get somewhere yu cant find something to eat, or at least nothing interesting, and its the same shitty rice/lentils day after day. Can get pretty lonely as well, if your a lone. Twas great fun tho, and the one trip i did 10,000 miles and got as far as the Iranian border by accident!

I've done a number of trips, that one was with a girl (my girlfriend at the time), and the only time i have had someone else there for the whole trip. We took a somewhat modified, old citreon hatchback, fishing rods, some snares, assorted other shit and got lost for about 7 months or more maybe, so not that long a trip. We didnt have any plan, but ended up blitzing through france and italy, then meandering through Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, montenegro, albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, over to the far side, back, through bulgaria, romania, moldova, hungary, slovakia, then circumstances forced a race back through austria, germany, and some pleasant and peaceful time on a dutch beach before ending up in scotland in a wee log cabin in the middle of knowhere for a year and a bit. . . . . . and then went off again.

In that time i think we slept in a bed for maybe 2, 3 nights, the rest of the time was spent on the ground. We pretty much avoided all cities, had a map, and just explored national parks, mountains, coastlines, anywhere green on the map and under inhabited. Caught a whole load of weird and wonderful fish and various game, and lots of pilfered fruit and veg. Its handy that the east of europe is littered with springs, and the people are incredibly hospitable. We only met a couple of other foreigners and explored some truly remote and amazing places. Also the car didnt break down once, but i did hit a deer in the italian dolomites, but that was fairly welcome.
