lurchergrrl 1,441
Christmas holidays: a time during which all single parents are at risk of being driven to suicide  With the dogs desperate for a good blast, and the kids going stir crazy, and me being doolally at the best of times, I decided the family needed a good airing out today. Packed up a lunch and set off just before 11 this morning. We walked for 4 hours The camera battery packed in halfway through but I did manage to get a couple of slightly blurry pics in the low shitty light. Aaaand they're off! Surveying the River Calder A couple of posers And a spot of lunch on the cold wet ground Twas a good day out Muddy as all hell tho; makes me miss the snow!
Mastiff 7
I like the B&W one (No offence to the kids!) Hope you had a good day.

bert the fert 28
Four hours, that's a lot of walking on little legs. This is possibly why lurcherrgirl has THE most well behaved children i've ever met. They're too knackered to get into mischief @ Jenn. Check your email
lurchergrrl 1,441
Four hours, that's a lot of walking on little legs. It's a lot of walking on grown up legs! There's an art to it, which I've developed over the years. You bring lots of snacks/ sandwiches/drinks/chocolates etc. And you just meander, take your time and make it interesting. I've scoped out all the different directions we go, so I know where's good to stop for a rest. Woods are best - good for adventures and bear hunting Sometimes if I find a new 'spot' and tell them about it, then they're game to go see it. I let them climb trees and fences and crawl around under the bushes etc., it keeps them occupied. And it sure beats the tv all day. Makes for a shed load of washing, mind. Bert ... anyone else would've come home with tired quiet children. Anyone else would've sat serenely by the fire with a cuppa whilst said tired quiet children recuperated. Mine were bouncing around all over the place and are only now settling down. This motherhood lark is vastly overrated. Will check the email shortly

miles 227
Dogs and kids in fine fettle, a credit to you
littlefish 596
Nice to see the kids out in the fresh air. It costs nothing to go for a walk, only time. I think a lot of kids these days don't get much of that.
