Yes mate the attitude of some folk is unreal - it's either they have a dog on a lead and cos they wouldnt dare let it off assume your dog is 'running wild' despite obviously being under control or wor

So this is a bit of a rant and i'm bound to get some flak but who cares! It seems these days that almost on a daily basis i cross paths with a person/people who posses either a child/children or a dog/dogs that they shouldnt have, or both. When i say 'shouldnt have' i mean that they have no idea or ability to bring it up properly and dont have any control of it.

The way I see it is that dogs are social animals that feel happier and more confident when they know what the boundaries are. Most would probably agree that that it is correct to teach them what is good to do eg. come when called, and what they may never do, eg. chase sheep or attack ferrets. Where a lot of dogs seem to get let down is in learning to socialise properly with other dogs when they are puppies. If they are isolated and do not learn correct body language and how to approach other dogs when they are pups, misunderstandings that turn into aggression will occur when they adults. Whether this means the ballache of going to puppy socialisation classes, or just making the effort to take every opportunity to let the puppy socialise with as many dogs as possible, it's got to pay off in the long run. Going through the greeting ritual of approaching and sniffing is perfectly natural behaviour. Working dog owners seem to do as badly as any other dog owners in this respect.

I'm afraid I just ignore highly strung bossy women with similarly messed up dogs telling me to put my dog on a lead. If their dog is that likely to attack, it should be muzzled in public places.

Making dog licences and training compulsory wouldn't work. People would just go through the motions. A bit like picking up after your dog with a plastic bag. People only do it when others are watching and then throw the bag full of sh1t in the hedge as soon as they are out of sight. Result is that there are bags of dog sh1t everywhere instead of just dog sh1t. No one really wins.

Thats a pet hate of mine picking up dog crap then leaving the bag or launching it in a hedge im fed up cleaning the back green here cos people allow their dogs to crap which considering my dogs dont get out there really gets my hackles up.I handed a guy a bag one day and pointed out to him his dog had crapped a few times there and he asked why should i i dont live here! That was soon sorted i can tell you.My lad isnt too friendly hes not really agressive but doesnt like dogs bouncing on him when hes on a lead and if they run in he doesnt wait to see whats gonna happen just reacts but then hes on a lead and im fed up saying the same thing to the same people over and over again.Surely any normal person if told theyre dogs likely to get injured or killed they would get hold of it and keep it away?Nope azpparently not lol really gets on my wick cos then its all this your dogs are killer nasty dogs that shouldnt be allowed out when my dogs where standing there happy as not bothering their ass with the other hound till it approaches

couldnt agree with you more mate.my pet hate is unruly dogs.ive had many an argument with dog walkers.i say if an owner cant get thier dogs to follow basic commands such as.Heel or stay.then they have no business letting them off a f*****g lead.sick of dogs come charging towards my dogs and paying no heed of what thier thick f*****g owners shout at them.i train my dogs not to go near other dogs and people.pisses me right off.laid the boot into a few potlickers over the years.another gripe i have is b*****ds who dont pick up dog shite after thier mutts.dont get me wrong if my dogs shit in a wooded area i wont pick it up either, but the council where i live spent over a million quid doing up and old bing area.new paths and planted trees made a really good job off it,and a great place for going a walk.well it used to be.its like a mine field of dog shit now.all over the paths absoulete disgrace.i seriously dont see any enjoyment of owning a dog that pays no heed to what the owner says.seen them chasing after thier dogs trying to get a lead on it.

Ha, so today some more on the sheep killing, the farmer rang me, having phoned the police the last couple of times and after having witnesses to the particular dog doing it. The police visited the people and didnt even look at the dogs just had a chat, and apparently "they coulldnt be that sort of irresponsible people because they are doctors". So was Harold Shipmen, i said.
