ferretting dog

hello

 

looking for some advice on the best ferretting dog in your own opinion i could get.

have lurchers already but they destroy everything they get.

got new premission which is over run with rabbits so a good dog would be very useful.

be grateful for your advice

A whippet cross for rabbitting with ferrets

thanks for the advice so far lads. was thinking off crossing my working wheaten dog with a good courseing

whippet bitch. has anyone tried this cross for ferreting befor.

Will the wheaten not be a bit hard for rabbits if your wanting to use them?? The lurcher ive got crunches everything but i only use the rabbits for ferret food.

not worried about the crunching side of it. just need something with fair bit of speed,

strong prey drive,

and good intelligence.

i use most of the catch for ferret and dog food.

thats a fine looking dog you have there.

how does it fair out on rough ground and

small tight fields.

he is brillant mate,rough ground or tight fields, he is lifting the rabbits no proplem! nite or day.. brings them back live to hand, also good with the ferrets!! :thumbs: (tommy.c) :thumbs:post-7569-12753500945_thumb.jpg

i can see by the pic that the rabbits are nice and cleanly caught.

not crunched or ripped.

your dog looks in great shape.

the right size for all types of ground.
