The knack that is.....

Decided to nip down to the small permission as I'd never been out for a while due to the adverse weather only to find a utilities company has dug half the bloody field up laying a great big pipe!!!

What a start!!!

A quick check of zero at a paced distance on a fencepost had me "within tolerance" of a 20p piece sized knot in the wood.

As I clambered over the heap of soil they made to get to the other side where I normally zero I caught sight of 2 big fat bunnies about 35-40m away having their main course, all that was left was for me to deliver their desert of Defiant lead, 3/4 of a mildot holdover just behind the eye and I let it fly..... THUD!...straight into the soil in front of it's nose...... bye bye bunnies as they scarpered for cover! :censored:

I worked my way round the back to find 3 grazing together in a depression right next to the spot I usually lie in to zero. I managed to get to the position where I put my backstop to create the perfect zero shot!

Slowly put the bipod down and into the prone position small squeak from my lips had bugs on his hind legs inspecting the area, crosshairs a cm behind his eye the lead went flying......straight past the bugger...... I couldnt believe it!! :censored:

Two of them legged it leaving the original one still there wondering what just flew past it....couldnt believe my luck, composed the shot again, and let another defiant fly....... straight past the bugger again!!!!

That was it....I ws pi**ed off now! :censored:

Out came the zero board to the usual distance and composed 5 shots, all of them a mildot down and a mildot to the left.....HOW????

It was fine when I checked it earlier...... Resetting the zero back to centre I had 5 shots within the 20p this time, surely this time I couldnt miss.....

But.....I'll have to wait for next time now as I'd run out of time and had to get home.

Will keep you posted on the next outing!

Sounds like a little bit of Phantom has rubbed off on you :D Its sessions like this that make the good ones seem better ;)

:wallbash: sure does!! maybe there was a slight cross wind when you did your first zero?? which would of put it off?? and giving to a false zero?? or a small knock... i bloody kick mine over the other outing and had to go back and check the rifle was still 'on'.... it is a funny old one!!

Hi Darryl.

Could be the pacing out thats putting you adrift.

Before I got the range finder, I carried a 30yd piece of para cord in my pack.

No trouble to cart around, and you know your zero distance is correct everytime.

Just a thought Bud, hope the next trip is a better one for you

Darryl: the Git's are of course correct :whistling:

Nowt like a session like that, remember mine last week :icon_redface:

Every shot in paper removing the bull, every shot at live quarry missed and all at dead on zero range!

Like Stealthy said, sessions like that makes the better ones even better still
